The fever medicine must have kicked in.
Felicity slept off the fever later on, sinking into a deeper, more restful slumber. Being sick sapped her of all strength, underlining the need for good rest.
Miles was itching to get answers, but seeing her so frail and feverish, he decided to let his parents wait another day. At least until she was in better shape tomorrow, then he'd have that holistic health practitioner come over.
Dorothy, naturally, followed her son's wishes.
After all, this whole ordeal was for his love life.
While Felicity slept, Miles paced back and forth several times, worried sick she might be delirious with fever rather than merely sleeping deeply.
At five in the afternoon, he decided to have some food delivered, thinking it was time to wake Felicity up for a bit to eat, if nothing else.
The doorbell rang, and Miles, expecting the food delivery, swung the door open.
But...
"Felicity! I got you your favorite bubble tea—"
Calvin's greeting cut off abruptly as he realized the person who opened the door wasn't Felicity but, instead, the last person he wanted to see—his rival in love.
Miles hadn't expected Calvin either, his handsome face instantly turning into a scowl.
"What are you doing here?"
"Ah? Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Calvin, sure Felicity hadn't spilled the beans to him, instinctively slipped into his 'boyfriend' role.
It was partly to keep up the charade for Felicity's sake and partly for his own selfish reasons.
"I'm her brother, staying at her place. Pretty normal."
"Oh, well, I'm her boyfriend, here to drop off something for her. Even more normal," Calvin retorted, attempting to step inside.
Miles blocked him effectively.
"Boyfriend?"
Standing side by side, Calvin was slightly shorter than Miles, forcing him to look up slightly to meet his gaze.
Naturally, his presence felt a bit diminished.
Miles shrugged, his tall frame firmly planted in the doorway, "Felicity must not know! Otherwise, she wouldn't have accepted!"
Calvin, realizing the full extent, glared, "All your scheming... and you stand here pretending to be a gentleman?"
"I don't need to pretend." Given the ties between the Lopez and Turner families, Felicity could never fully cut off from him.
But Calvin was a different story.
He was an outsider.
"Let Felicity decide. If she learns this place is yours, she'll move out in an instant!"
"Move where? To that apartment that's actually yours, under the guise of just being roommates?"
"..."
Miles's face darkened, his gaze turning icy, "Calvin, I've simply chosen not to stoop to dealing with you directly."
But that didn't mean he should push his luck.
