Thirty grand, Shelley was stumped for a moment. Being bedridden for six years, she literally had nothing. She didn't want to cause trouble for Cordelia. She knew that ordinary girls like Cordelia had a low status in the upper-class world. As soon as she used that money, she would become beholden to someone else.
"Mom, don't worry, I got this." Cordelia patted Shelley's shoulder and pulled out Cost Management in Finance from her backpack.
She always carried this book with her, and the check was also in there.
"I've got some money here, given to me by him. Don't worry. Granny's illness can be cured. I'll go cash the check at the bank." After saying that, Cordelia showed the check to her mom.
"He" was obviously referring to Ronan.
Shelley felt something was off, but she couldn't put her finger on it.
After paying the operation fee, the doctors began the surgery on grandma. The operation for this kind of brain tumor took a long time, so they had to wait outside.
"Look at the rich wife here, casually throwing around thirty grand," Samantha sneered.
Cordelia ignored her and continued to pretend to sleep leaning on the wall. This made Samantha even more pissed.
Shelley couldn't help but wonder: did Cordelia tell Ronan about coming to the hospital? How come Ronan didn't show up when she came to the hospital?
"Cordelia, what are you doing here?" Jamie and a group of people were passing by.
Seeing Cordelia, Samantha immediately put on a smile, thinking to herself: isn't this a perfect love triangle? It would be a surprise if Ronan didn't punish Cordelia.
Cordelia looked up and saw Jamie. "You're here?" she asked in surprise.
"Well, I took on the auditing work for Roseville Hospital last Christmas, and I came here to collect some data today. What are you doing in the hospital?" Jamie asked.
Cordelia knew that as long as she was with Jamie, Samantha would definitely stir up trouble. She pulled Jamie aside and explained what had happened. Seeing that there were only women around, and no men, Jamie knew Cordelia might be under great stress.
"I haven't finished my work here. I'm not going back to Millstone. The brain tumor operation takes a long time, maybe more than ten hours. I'll book a room for you, so you and your mom can go rest. Also, do you have enough money?" Jamie was very concerned, his eyes filled with concern as he spoke.
"Yeah."
"Given by him?"
