The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 218

Ronan was on Cordelia.

Just as he was about to lose his temper, Cordelia grabbed a fruit knife from the bedside table.

The blade was pressed against Ronan's throat.

He stared at Cordelia with a complex look.

"Don't touch me!" Cordelia said, tears rolling down her face.

Whether Shelley was killed by Ronan or not, it was all related to him.

And he had the audacity to ask her to bear his child.

What a pipe dream.

They should be each other's enemies.

Ronan moved the knife away with one finger, "Do you think I'm having a good time?"

"You killed someone, of course you should feel bad! But it doesn't make up for my loss. Shelley." Cordelia recalled when Shelley just woke up, she called her "mom" while laying on her lap, just for a response. But now, the room was cold and lifeless.

Shelley was gone, and suddenly the world seemed emptier.

Shelley would never answer her again.

Tears poured down Cordelia's face. She cried herself to sleep.

Ronan held her all night as she cried.

The next day, she woke up with swollen eyes, noticing Ronan still in bed.

"Stop staring at me. I'm fine. Nothing's gonna happen." Cordelia said to Ronan.

Ronan gave her a once-over, wondering if she was telling the truth.

"You stay here, I'll be back soon after a quick trip to the office." He said.

After Ronan left, Cordelia cleaned and tidied up all the things that Shelley had used, neatly folding Shelley's clothes and storing them in the closet.

Samantha's message came at noon:

[Cordelia, got a minute? I’d like to talk to you.]

Cordelia thought, there was nothing to stir up between her and Ronan now. Maybe Samantha just wanted to check on her.
