The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 345

Wary of Ronan's jealousy and given Cordelia's laid-back nature, she refrained from sending a direct message to Jamie on Facebook. She feared that Jamie would bombard her with questions and that Ronan would get suspicious and jealous. That wouldn't be fun at all.

Besides, after losing a child, Cordelia was in physical pain and didn't have much energy to care for others.

Since Cordelia already told Marian what to do, she figured Marian would not be passive. The girl was ambitious enough to patch things up with Cordelia for her career, so she would surely take the initiative to find Jamie.

Moreover, when Cordelia suggested this to Marian, Ronan said nothing. As clever as Marian was, she knew that collaborating with Jamie was the only way forward. Ronan wouldn't interfere in the future.

Marian had suffered before under Ronan’s strict management, with no orders at all. She was scared.

For safety, the huge gift package Marian sent to Cordelia was ultimately unused. After Janice checked it, Cordelia tossed it into the storage at Pearl Palms, and planned to sell it when the garbage collectors came.

Cordelia was cautious of another incident occurring, like the spontaneous combustion of white phosphorus. Now that she had a child, she needed to be careful.

Moving back to Pearl Palms was Ronan's decision. Cordelia's pregnancy was unexpected, and now they were moving to a different home. She left behind many of her belongings, especially her diary.

"Can you bring my stuff from Garden Estates?" Cordelia asked Ronan.

"We can buy new stuff," Ronan replied.

Cordelia didn't argue.

"Will you go back to Garden Estates?" Cordelia asked.

"No."

"Are you not renting out the house?"

"Do I look like I need money?"

With the assurance that no one else would be living in the house, Cordelia felt more settled.

She started writing in a new diary.

Ronan knew why she was asking these questions—she was afraid someone would read her diary.

So, one day, when he went out of Pearl Palms claiming to go to work, he actually went to Garden Estates. He picked the lock on Cordelia's desk and opened her diary.

He got to know all of Cordelia's thoughts, including the time she spent in America. She was busy with her studies and had little time for Jamie, let alone for any romantic involvement.
