The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 383

In Millstone.

After dinner, Ronan sat on the couch, engrossed in a book.

Janice, on her way back to her room from the kitchen, was stopped by a question from Ronan.

"Did you tell her?" Ronan asked Janice.

Janice thought for a moment, then remembered what Ronan was referring to.

"Yeah, I told her. Explained everything, about the nude photos with her face exposed. It's actually quite normal for a couple to take such photos, but, she's overseas now, and she may get it wrong..." Janice advised patiently.

"Okay, you can go."

Janice returned to her room.

Ronan picked up his book again but found it hard to concentrate. He went upstairs. Just as he was getting ready for bed, a notification sounded from his phone. It was a friend request on Messenger, from Taylor, Cordelia's roommate.

Ronan accepted it.

The first message from Taylor read. [Mr. Evans, I took those photos of Cordelia. They're on my phone. From now on, I'll handle the photo sharing.]

Following that, Ronan's Messenger buzzed twenty times, each buzz signaling the arrival of a new, explicit photo of Cordelia.

In the photos, she was completely bare, her figure drawing one's gaze. The curtains were drawn, perhaps due to shyness. Her eyes were closed as she looked to the side. This shy state gave the photos an artistic beauty.

Ronan zoomed in on the photos, his pulse quickening. This was going to keep him up all night. But This was his own doing, asking for such photos!

Ronan closed his eyes as images of Cordelia, sometimes playful, sometimes angry, flooded his mind. He clenched his jaw, regretting his words. He said, "Either stay or leave forever."

He hadn't expected her to actually leave and not return.

He needed to find a way to appease the situation. Ronan decided to give Cordelia some time, to see if she'd reach out. If she didn't...

Cordelia asked Taylor to take the photos with her phone for convenience, but she was actually afraid that the man in black might have tapped her phone. She didn't want him to know about this “intimate” contact with Ronan, fearing potential retaliation against him and herself.

Her thoughts were, “If there's any revenge to be had, let it come at me.”

Cordelia's phone buzzed twice. She picked it up. The moment she saw the photos of Callum, she was overcome with a mix of joy and sorrow. The next second, tears slid down her cheeks, and the salty taste filled her mouth.

Her initial dislike for the child was temporary. After all, he was her flesh and blood. Seeing him stirred up her emotions, and she found herself saying, "He's grown."

Now plump and fair, he bore a resemblance to both Cordelia and Ronan.

Having just finished with the photos, Cordelia felt exhausted. It wasn't just physical exhaustion, but mental as well.

She felt like a woman forced into a brothel, unable to break through her own mental barriers. With the arrival of the man in black, she had to break those barriers, to take explicit photos.

If it was only a situation between her and Ronan, such a thing wouldn't have mattered. But with the addition of Tabitha and the ensuing misunderstandings between the two of them, Cordelia felt as though she was being forced into prostitution.
