Cordelia was always careful about what she shared on Facebook. She knew her classmates would gossip and accuse her of flaunting her wealth if she posted anything about her luxurious life. So, she kept her posts limited to a close-knit circle.
After updating her status, she sank into the couch and started a heartfelt conversation with Victoria. Their past grudges had melted away, and now their talks delved into deeper topics, even touching on matters of the heart.
Cordelia mentioned her plans to remarry Ronan on Monday.
"It's about time you two got back together. The kids are all grown up—what's there to think about?" Victoria said.
Cordelia nodded. Indeed, thinking about the kids' future played a big part in her decision.
"Yeah, you're right," Cordelia replied.
They chatted for hours, but Victoria was stubborn and her opinion of Jayson wasn’t easily changed. She was there to mend fences with Cordelia, mainly for Harold's sake. She didn't want to come off as cold-hearted, especially since Harold already had a low opinion of her.
It was past nine when their conversation wrapped up.
Harold had seen Cordelia's Facebook post after freshening up in the bathroom and settling into bed. He snorted at the sight of it and slid his phone under his pillow. He knew Cordelia rarely posted, and when she did, it was never just temporary visibility—it was her entire posting history. Even then, she seldom shared anything personal, mostly just reposts. And now, this post with pictures of her home and Victoria—it was clearly a move to improve Victoria's image in his eyes.
The more Harold thought about it, the angrier he got. He pulled out his phone and left a biting comment on Cordelia's post: "So you've taken up matchmaking now, have you?"
After sending the message on Messenger, he shoved his phone back under the pillow, fuming in silence.
After Victoria left, Cordelia went upstairs and saw Harold's comment. Her face flushed with embarrassment.
