Dominic
Vanessa's question makes me stop with my hands on my collar, my heart racing faster as I remember exactly what happened.
"No, we didn't use protection."
"Then it's a trap."
"No. I don't think so." I firmly shake my head.
After opening the bathroom while still in her clothes, she pauses and says, "Just because I'm no longer moving around with heavy security because she won't come after me doesn't mean you should just trust her. You're forgetting that things are now different between you two."
"Yes, but she wouldn't do that."
She scoffs. "Keep telling yourself that and you'll be in for a surprise." She closes the bathroom door.
Though I try to ignore it for a while, I just can't seem to forget, so I call Carmella immediately.
"Babe, calling me back already? Are you done with work?"
"We didn't use protection. Did you take care of yourself?"
She bursts into laughter. "Are you seriously asking me that?"
"Just answer the question."
"Of course I did."
"If I find out you're lying to me."
"Babe, come on. You can trust me."
Her tone is a little flirtatious, but that doesn't even excite me in the slightest as I struggle to believe her.
She ends the call from the other side and I drop my phone on the bed, looking at my reflection in the mirror with a heavy breath.
Even as I wait for Vanessa to get ready, I can't stop thinking about it. Carmella better not be lying to me. I can't risk having a baby with her.
I head downstairs to the study just to go over some documents since I'm certain that Vanessa won't be ready anytime soon.
Thirty minutes later, I return to the bedroom, hoping to find her fully dressed up but she's only in her underwear and the matching emerald green makes me smirk a little. She's facing the mirror, giving me the view of her back and I feel a stir in my groin at how the fabric is swallowed up by her ass.
"I'm almost ready," she says without looking at me, not even bothered by my sudden arrival.
"I can see that."
Even though I don't want to, I can't stop looking at her lustfully.
"I spoke to my dad just a few minutes ago. He's coughing some more and I'm worried."
"It was the same thing when I spoke to him yesterday. Do you think the nurse is doing a good job?"
"I think she'll do all she can, but we can't prevent what's coming."
Though she sounds a bit sorrowful and slumps shoulders, she soon straightens up and says, "Patrick called and that was the last conversation I had with him."
"I don't understand."
"I blocked him."
"Good." The thought of it brings me satisfaction as I firmly nod.
"Are you two still talking?" she asks.
"Not since the day I punched him in the face."
She chuckles.
"I'm glad you're staying away from him," I admit to her.
"That's what Mia said."
"Is she single?"
"Who's asking? Frank?" She playfully rolls her eyes.
"Yup."
"Not really."
As she goes on to explain Mia’s complicated love life, she leans over the dressing mirror to find some earrings but that just makes the view of her ass swallowing the fabric more enticing as she arches her back a little. Does she even realize what she's doing to me?
When she looks in the mirror again, I instantly look away to make myself busy.
"Hurry up. I should have already been there by now but because you wanted to come with me, I decided to wait."
"Hey, I still took less time to get ready than usual. You have to give me some credit."
I scoff. "You haven't earned that yet. You'll have to be much faster than this."
"Then I guess…"
She suddenly trails off, placing her hand on her lower stomach as she groans in pain.
Panicking, I rush to her. "Hey, what's wrong?"
She places one hand on the surface of the dressing mirror as she twists her face in discomfort.
"Vanessa, what's wrong?" My voice is filled with panic.
"It hurts." She rubs her lower stomach.
