The Day His Demands Broke My Water novel Chapter 52

I never expected to see Jeremy in the UK.

That day, as usual, I was walking toward the office building when I noticed him arguing with the security guard at the entrance.

The moment he saw me approaching, his eyes lit up with shock and delight.

"Vera! It really is you! I thought he was lying to me."

I could already guess what had happened—his classmate must have told him I was in the UK.

"Sir, we’re not particularly close. Please don’t address me so familiarly," I said calmly.

But Jeremy acted as if he hadn’t heard me. He took a step forward and grabbed my hand.

"Vera, you’re my wife. I know you’re still upset. Come back to the country with me. I’ll throw you a proper wedding."

"There’s no need to stay here, in such an unfamiliar place, just to spite me," he continued.

I tried to pull my hand away, but his grip was firm, forcing our fingers to intertwine.

"Jeremy, in what world am I your wife? You never proposed to me, never held a complete wedding, and we never registered our marriage."

"At best, we’re strangers now," I stated flatly.

Jeremy, however, interpreted my calm demeanor as anger. He reached out with his other hand, pulling me into his arms and lowering his head, as if to kiss me.

This used to be his go-to tactic to appease me, but now, it only filled me with disgust.

"Sir, don’t you think it’s inappropriate to behave like this with my employee in front of my company?"

A large hand pulled Jeremy away from me and shielded me behind him. It was Jake Raphael.
