The Divorced Heiress Revenge (Bella Thompson) novel Chapter 1788

The man confiscated Carrie’s phone and escorted her into the car.

Cold sweat soaked Carrie’s shivering back as her slender, fragile body curled up pitifully next to Jace. She was still clutching her teddy bear, her hands trembling uncontrollably.

Despite facing unknown dangers, Carrie did not cry or beg Jace for mercy. She sat quietly, like a beautiful doll, waiting for her fate. It ironically made it harder for others to be too cruel to her.

Before leaving the villa, Jace grabbed another two apples.

He took a bite from one and offered the other to the girl.

“Do you want a bite?” he asked.

Carrie slowly lifted her pale, tense face. Her soft lips were colorless, and her sweat-dampened hair clung to her cheeks. Her voice was light and weak. “Are you really sent by the Hoffman Group to get me?”

Jace remained silent and kept the apple.

“Are you going to kill me?”

Jace continued to chew loudly.

“If I’m your target, please don’t harm Yasmin.” Carrie’s eyes shone with determined light.

The mere thought of rescuing Yasmin filled her with a desperate courage that dispelled her intense fear.

She continued, “As long as Yasmin is safe, I won’t attempt to escape. Even if it means exchanging my life for hers.”

Jace glanced at Carrie indifferently, his sharp, thin lips pressed together.

Just then, the phone in his hand vibrated.

He quickly glanced at the screen and immediately answered the call. Upon picking up, his icy tone gained a hint of respect.

“Sir.”

“Did you get her?”

Carrie’s ears perked up as she caught a faintly familiar voice from the call.

As she tried to listen more closely, Jace, ever vigilant, moved the phone to his other ear, blocking her from hearing anything.

Jace answered, “Yes.”

“Did Christopher order you to kill her?”

“No. He ordered me to bring her over.”

A faint, amused chuckle came from the other end. “Heh, when it comes to breaking someone’s spirit, no one can beat Mr. Iverson.”

Jace’s expression remained impassive. “Since I don’t need to kill her, can I leave after bringing her there?”

“No. Just cooperate with Mr. Iverson fully. Do whatever he asks of you.”

Jace responded flatly, “Alright.”
