The Divorced Heiress Revenge (Bella Thompson) novel Chapter 2142

Boom–

A deafening roar shook the night sky. It was as if the heavens themselves would collapse and crumble under the weight of the storm, unleashing a torrent of mud and sand.

“So, this day has finally come, hasn’t it?”

Christopher stood with his back to Taylor. His hands clasped behind him. His figure, tall and imposing against the backdrop of the night, was as steadfast as a mountain, as pure as snow.

He did not show a hint of surrender, despondency, or defeat. Yet, an unmistakable sense of solitude seeped through, tugging at the heart.

Once upon a time, he had stood atop the world, basking in the glory of his successes, with prosperity as vibrant as a blooming garden.

Bang–!

A firework shot up, exploding in a dazzling display, painting the thick darkness of Savrow’s night sky with vibrant colors. Its beauty and intensity were breathtaking.

But in the end, it left nothing behind but cold, lifeless ashes.

“I used to long for so much. I longed to return to Savrow, to make everyone in the Iverson family pay, to reclaim what was rightfully mine, and to take control of Savrow for Boss. But in the end, I realized none of that mattered to me. From the beginning, all I ever truly wanted was to be with Bella.”

Taylor closed his eyes. He felt a deep sadness wash over him. He wanted to say something comforting, but words seemed hollow and inadequate at this moment.

“If I could choose again, I would give up everything I have just to hear Bella call me ‘Chris’ one more time.”

Christopher slowly closed his eyes. In his mind, he saw the woman he loved most, her eyes bright and lively. She was standing amidst a sea of roses as red as fire, waving to him joyfully.

——“Chris! Come over here and play!”

——“Chirs! Don’t be afraid! I’m right here with you!”

No one else, no matter how perfect or outstanding, could ever replace either of them.

“Chairman Iverson, the situation has gotten bad. You must leave Savrow tonight and return to Sentania to avoid suspicion.” Taylor’s eyes filled with urgency. “The police will soon seal off Pivotage. Although it’s not under your name, its connections to you are too numerous to withstand investigation! You must leave immediately!”

“Over the past two years, Pivotage has hosted countless high-ranking officials and dignitaries. Numerous Savrow officials have engaged in money-for-power and power-for-sex exchanges here. Many wealthy heirs have squandered their money, indulging in drugs, prostitution, gambling, even abusing hostesses, disregarding the law, and causing deaths. Every time, we were the ones who cleaned up their mess.

“Investigating Pivotage means shaking up the entire political scene in Savrow. It would blow a hole in the sky of this city. Even if they do investigate, it won’t go deep. At most, they’ll shut us down and revoke our business license.”

Christopher rubbed his face roughly, his voice hoarse and low. “You don't need to worry. Even if they come after you, you have the expense records of those high-ranking officials. The ledgers document every single transaction. Those are your life-saving assets. You’ve worked with me for a long time, and I won’t let you get burned by this.”

“I’m not worried about myself. I’m worried about you!” Taylor replied. While he indeed kept evidence to protect himself, his concern for Christopher at this moment was genuine.

That was just how complicated human nature was.
