Jace pursed his lips as he bent down and picked it up.
This King of Spades card was an entry pass to the King’s Club.
“The one who targeted me was—” Jace’s eyes darkened, fingers tightening around the card.
“My dear uncle—who always claimed to treat me like his own.” Grant’s lips curled into a cold, eerie smile.
“He wants to take advantage of my conflict with Justin, seizing the opportunity to weaken my forces so he can gain control over me more easily.
“Since he was sentenced to life for murder and escaped from prison, he hasn’t set foot in the country. All his power is entrenched in Sentania and I’m the only remaining Fowler family member.
“Since Fowler Corporation declared bankruptcy, this is a move to take over the domestic market. Now, my dear uncle is willing to take such a risk just to deal with me. He even sent his men to Savrow, waiting for a chance to strike at those around me.
“It’s truly a generous gift. It seems he doesn’t trust his only remaining kin.”
Jace’s long lashes drooped, his gaze dark. “He fears that you will outshine him.”
A sneer escaped Grant’s lips. “Outshine him? Lucas is nothing more than a stepping stone for me. I used him to secure influence abroad and gain entry into the King’s Club. Once the new drug is developed, I will replace him as a VIP member of the club.” His eyes gleamed with ambition, envisioning his future empire.
‘The new drug.’ A sharp throb pulsed in Jace’s temples as a name flashed through his mind. ‘Yvonne… That pitiful woman is still imprisoned in an abandoned hospital room and tormented endlessly, destined to become a mere sacrifice in a drug experiment.’
His brow furrowed slightly, but his tone remained indifferent. “What’s your next move?”
“No matter what, I must secure the A5 project. That is my ticket into the King’s Club—” Before Grant could finish, a shrill ringtone shattered the night’s silence.
Grant glanced at his phone. His refined features darkened as he slowly answered. “Mayor.”
A raspy cough came through the receiver before the Mayor forced out a dry chuckle. “Mr. Salvador… I apologize for disturbing you at such a critical time, given all the turmoil surrounding Salvador Corporation…”
Grant ran out of patience, so his voice turned cold. “Get to the point.”
“It’s about the A5 project. I think we need to reconsider…” The Mayor hesitated before continuing, “Salvador Corporation’s stock has been plummeting these past two days. The press conference fiasco has left your reputation in crisis.

Please update regularly...
Thanks for bringing Ryan back. Totally missed him...
I am reading this book from last year. Its very long story but at start i find enjoyable.Still there is no closure , dragging the story and the writer is running out of ideas. Its frustrating that they don't upload chapters regularly....
If you are about to start reading this “ongoing” book….don’t. It’s a great read but mo regular updates and leaves you hanging. Took me months to get to chapter 2370 (this app only has it to chapter 2368….learned to search different links to read ahead a bit). These ongoing books are just not worth the time since their author (s) take days/weeks to upload new chapters. Again great sultry, long drawn out at times, but not worth the frustration of no new updates....
No update in 6 days!!! Really??? I’m about over this story and ready to move on, the wait is to long....
Pls update regularly or least let us know why it's taking so long...
Ok I was thinking last night. I really hope the author hasn’t been affected by hurricane Helene. Not sure where they are located but I hope everyone is safe...
It’s been 87 years since the update with only 2 chapters. 🙄...
