After David took the medicine, he felt a burst of energy kick in. As he followed the person who picked him up at the airport, he chatted with Cassie, "Do you know anything about medicine too?"
Cassie let out a soft sigh, "Just a little bit."
In his family, Cassie was often seen as the one with the least talent. Since he was a kid, he showed no knack for medicine. After a few years of trying to teach him with no success, the elders eventually gave up on him.
But Cassie didn't mind. He was never really interested in medicine. Instead, he had a knack for messing around with various herbs, getting really good at making antidotes and even poisons. Sometimes, his sister couldn't even figure out the toxins he brewed up.
David glanced at the young man walking beside him, his thoughts swirling. He was getting wary of the phrase "just a little bit." It reminded him of Mirabella, who often downplayed her skills. Those who claimed to know "just a little" usually ended up being way more knowledgeable than anyone else.
He figured this young guy might be the same—a hidden genius! So, David simply sighed and decided not to probe any further, knowing it would only make him feel more out of depth.
Soon enough, they hopped into Curtis's car. Instead of heading to the hospital, they drove to a private estate in Merrywoods that belonged to James. After wrapping up a call with Cassie and considering safety issues, James had already checked out of the hospital.
The villa was lit up like a Christmas tree. When David and Cassie walked in, James was lounging on the sofa in the living room. He stood up when he saw them, nodding slightly, "David, thanks for all your help."
He also nodded at Cassie in greeting.
"No problem," David replied, shaking his head. He didn’t waste time on small talk. "Take me to see how Mirabella's doing."
James nodded and led the way upstairs.
Cassie trailed behind, watching David’s back. It suddenly clicked why David had seemed so odd when he gave him the pill earlier. This guy was an expert in alternative medicine, here to treat his sister. Cassie felt a bit awkward, rubbing his brow.
