It was only then that he answered the call. The conference organizers called and asked him to attend a meeting about Kylie's research paper.
Kylie had already guessed as much. Once he hung up, she said, "Mr. Bradford, go ahead and carry on with your work. I can handle things here."
Jeremiah didn't know how she intended to handle things after hitting Samuel's girlfriend, but he decided to trust her and let her deal with it.
"Alright. Call me if you need anything." With that, he left the police station.
"I'd love to see how you handle this without your backing!" Iris smirked smugly.
"Mr. Jones, tell Samuel that locking me up is easy. But it won't be that easy to get me out!"
Kylie turned to Simon with a slight squint. She was calm and sported a smile on her face, yet there was a sharp, commanding air about her.
"What do you mean by that?" Simon frowned as he studied her.
Kylie had a slender, graceful figure and exquisite features. Her eyes were dark and brilliant like the night sky, radiating a brightness that was difficult to ignore.
Before he could get lost in his thoughts, Iris cut in, pretending to be understanding and compassionate.
"Kylie, I understand how scared you must be of going to prison. Anyone would be, too, if they were in your position.
"But you shouldn't falsely claim connections and mislead Mr. Jones. If you apologize and compensate me for my medical expenses and emotional distress, I might consider settling privately."
Upon hearing this, Kylie chuckled coldly in her heart. She knew Iris all too well.
There was no way Iris would settle this privately. All she wanted was to watch Kylie beg for mercy and enjoy the thrill of stomping on her.
