The Enticing CEO’s Chosen Bride novel Chapter 1952

Cicely's expression turned icy in an instant as she rose from the couch. "How could he possibly get into a fight? Are you sure?"

The driver nodded with certainty, "I saw him, he had a bruise on his face, and Miss Danielle even bought him some medicine."

Frowning, Cicely tossed the throw pillow she had been holding back onto the couch, grabbed her cellphone, and said to Creighton, "I'm going to check on him. Dad, you should get some rest." Before he could even attempt to stop her, she was already heading for the door.

Creighton, feeling a bit helpless, said, "I was warming some milk for you in the kitchen." But his words fell on deaf ears as Cicely left without a response.

Creighton hastily gestured to the driver to follow Cicely.

Seth had a casual dinner out by himself and wasn't surprised to find Patty had already gone to bed upon his return.d2

The butler, who had been waiting for him, couldn't help but gasp when he saw Seth, only to be silenced by a stern glance.

After a moment, the butler offered in a low voice, "Mr. Seth, would you like me to tend to your wounds?"

"No need."

Seth was not one to repeat himself, and although everyone knew that treating the wounds was the sensible thing to do, no one dared to suggest it again after his refusal.

The butler accepted this, and so did Danielle.

After changing his shoes, Seth went straight upstairs to the bathroom. Because of his injuries, the shower took longer than usual.

Half an hour later, he emerged, toweling his hair dry, and glanced at his phone on the nightstand. It had been silent all day. With an expressionless face, he tossed it back onto the bed.

After a second trip to the bathroom, he came back with his hair fully dry, climbed into bed, and grabbed a book from the shelf. Minutes later, the book was discarded.

His scowl deepened with impatience and irritability. He threw off the covers and went downstairs.

He grabbed a glass of ice water from the fridge and gulped it down, trying to quell the inexplicable agitation within him. Then, he poured another glass, sat on the sofa, and as he tilted his head back to drink, he noticed the bag of medicine he'd thrown onto the coffee table earlier.

Seth paused, looking down at the bruise on his knee. He could see various healing marks on his leg, arm, and other exposed skin. He had always despised resolving issues with violence, considering it foolish in the extreme. However, even now, he felt no regret. If anything, he felt it hadn't been enough.

After finishing the water, he set the glass down and was about to stand up when he heard the front door open amidst a slight commotion.

"Ms. Cicely, Mr. Seth is not in the best of moods today."

"I know."

Cicely's assertive voice cut through the air as she entered.

Seth's brow furrowed as he turned towards the entrance. There she was, just as he expected.

"What are you doing here?" he asked in a deep tone.

Cicely didn't hesitate, striding towards him, her eyes quickly surveying him from head to toe. Finally, standing before him, she tilted her head up to inspect the bruise at the corner of his mouth. Anger mounted on her beautiful, delicate face.

The tension in the room inexplicably thickened.

Just when everyone was unsure of how to proceed, Cicely suddenly swung and slapped Seth across the face. Her left hand connected with his right cheek. Because she was much shorter, the slap actually landed on his chin.

The sound wasn't particularly sharp, but in that moment, it was jarringly loud.
