Jessica slammed the door shut, leaving Alex outside in only his boxers. 

When the door closed, Jessica wiped her tears away and muttered, “What an idiot! I’ve cried so much that my eyes got puffy.” 

Nadia floated over, nervously asking, “Won’t Alex get mad? You shut him out just like that, and he’s almost naked.” 

“Mad? He wouldn’t dare! He just made a woman who loves him so much cry. He should be too regretful to even think about being angry.” 

Just after she said that, a loud knock on the door was heard. 

“Jessica, I was wrong! I was just jealous. Jessica, please forgive me, okay?” 

Jessica took her time. She drank a glass of water to relieve her throat before walking slowly to the door. With a sorrowful tone, she said, “Stop making so much noise. We both need to calm down and think about this. I also need to think about whether loving you is worth it.” 

“It is! Of course, it’s worth it! Jessica, believe me, I’ll love you more than any of them! I’ll treat you better than they ever did!” 

Jessica sighed. “Really? I don’t believe you.” 

“I’ll prove it to you,” Alex pleaded. 

Without saying much more, she told him to leave and not disturb the neighbors. 

Once Alex left, Jessica pulled out her phone and waved Nadia over. “Come here. Let’s take a look at what kind of house we should buy for your mom.” 

Confused, Nadia floated over. “Buy a house? For my mom? Do you have the money for that?” 

“Of course, I’m not spending my own money! That bastard, Alex, owes you and your family. Why should I use my money? It’ll be his!” 

“But how are you going to get him to pay for a house for my mom?” Nadia asked, skeptical. 

“Don’t worry about that part. Let’s just look at houses first!” Jessica opened her phone. “Do you want to buy a house here or somewhere else? What’s your hometown like? How’s your mom’s relationship with her neighbors?” 

Nadia hesitated, but she still answered all the questions, “She lives in the countryside. The neighbors are nice, I guess.” 

Jessica shook her head. “The countryside? The healthcare isn’t great there. Do you have any relatives you can rely on? Anyone close to your family?” 

“My aunt! She’s close to my mom. Even when she moved out of town after getting married and after my dad passed, she still took care of us.” 

Jessica sat comfortably on the couch. “Which city?” 

After getting the answer from Nadia, she opened the real estate app on her phone and changed the location. “Which neighborhood?” 

Nadia mentioned a neighborhood, and Jessica nodded. “This area looks decent. There’s a hospital, schools, and even a shopping mall. Well, since there’s no need to buy a big house, would 70 square feet be enough?” 

Nadia paused in shock. “That’s more than enough! My mom lives alone.” 

“And what about the floor? Would a higher or lower floor be better for her? A higher floor would offer a better view, but lower floors are more convenient if the elevator stops working.” 

Jessica continued, “It shouldn’t be too expensive either, or your relatives might get jealous. By the way, can your mom drive?” 

Nadia shook her head.
