Meredith went to work as usual, but looking at Derek's empty office, she felt like there was something missing deep down as well.
He hadn't been discharged yet.
The last time she saw him in the hospital, he was still very energetic, lively, and even had the strength to force a kiss on her. Meredith could not help but worry about Derek, which might result from the sequela of the previous serious car accident.
Thinking about it, Meredith couldn't help but feel worried again.
As soon as Damian arrived at the company, he saw her looking absent-minded. Soon, he found out the reason why she was so.
"Mr. Xavier has been undergoing intensive examinations recently, but if you want to see him, it's okay, for there should be only doctors there."
Meredith was a little embarrassed after hearing what he said. Did she give away her feelings in such an obvious way?
However, if there were no outsiders... It was good for her to go over and ask how Derek felt. The last time she was there, she hadn't even had time to figure out whether Derek was okay.
Thinking about it, Meredith packed her things. Damian saw that she was wavering and gave her a document, "By the way, please bring him this document when you go over."
Meredith nodded and took it over. In that case, even if someone asked her why she was there, she could say that she was just doing an errand.
Thinking about it, Meredith left the company and took a taxi to the hospital.
Soon, Meredith arrived at her destination.
With watchful eyes, she went upstairs. It wasn't until she made sure no one else was there that she knocked on the ward door.
Derek frowned, thinking that it was a nurse or doctor making other rounds, and said, "Come in."
Meredith walked in and looked at the man who was sitting on the bed and flipping through some documents in his hand. "I... I have something for you."
Meredith immediately felt that it was really considerate of Damian to ask her to bring the document, or else she would be embarrassed to death now.
"Bring me something?"
Derek glanced at the document in Meredith's hand, appreciated Damian's thought, and raised the corner of his lips, "Then just give it to me."
Meredith nodded and walked over. Caught off guard, she was caught by the arm. Losing her balance, Meredith fell right on Derek's strong chest.
"Just for that?"
Looking at Meredith whose ears reddened, Derek couldn't help but tease her. He deliberately leaned close to her ear and said in a low voice.
Meredith's body trembled at that. With sensitive ears, she felt as if there was an electric current flowing through her body as his hot breath blew onto her in such an intimate way.
"Also... come and see you."
Seeing that Derek wouldn't let her go until he heard what he wanted to hear, Meredith could only say it. However, she said it in such a low voice that it was almost impossible to hear what she was saying.
Derek heard it clearly, but the soft touch of the woman in his arms made him feel an urge not to let go of her. Thus, he put on a wicked smile and said, "I didn't hear you clearly. Say it again."
Meredith was embarrassed and angry with Derek's teasing both in his words and actions. However, the man's strength was so great that she couldn't break free. She could only say sulkily, "Come and see if you are seriously injured, okay?"
Derek raised his eyebrows and said, "Do you want me to be seriously injured or not?"
Meredith was speechless. She had never thought that Derek would be like that. Just as she was about to answer, suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
"Mr. Xavier, it's time to change your dressing."
The nurse's gentle voice came from outside the door.
