Chapter 148
Ethan was still alive, and not only that, Snow had even seen him!
Oliver’s breathing quickened. Could Ethan have learned about what was happening in Aqual City and was planning to take action against them?
At that moment, all Oliver wanted to do was away, and maybe he should. He could forget about the money and everything.
He knew very well how the previous businessmen had met their tragic end. Not only did they die, but their entire fortune had mysteriously disappeared as well.
“Oliver?”
Stephen noticed something off with Oliver.
“What’s wrong?”
Oliver snapped back to his senses, his body tensing up as he asked nervously, “What did Ethan say?”
“He just mentioned that Snow’s parents died in a famine. He also said a lot of strange things, like she chose to sacrifice herself or something.”
Stephen still could not make sense of it.
Oliver pressed, “Is that it?”
Stephen nodded.
Oliver continued, “Did he mention us?”
“Haha!” Stephen laughed. “I understand now. Are you worried that Ethan might reject the projects with the factory? Don’t worry. Ethan can’t touch you. The whole of Riveria has to listen to me now.”
A wave of relief washed over Oliver. It felt like he had just walked back from the brink of death, narrowly escaping with his life..
Fortunately, Ethan did not plan to move against them. Otherwise, he would book a flight out of the country now.
Oliver took a deep breath and calmed himself down before saying, “Well, it’s true I’m not Snow’s biological father. You should’ve noticed that we have different last names.”
n gave an awkward smile
He had not paid attention to that detail.
“For years, I’ve been looking for Snow’s biological parents, but I didn’t expect them…” Oliver sighed. “I didn’t expect to die in a famine.”

Stephen also found it tragic. He came from a privileged background and could not imagine what it must have been like for someone to starve to death
“Riveria was a mess back then.” Oliver said, “People from beyond the borders came like it was their own home, and fights broke out everywhere. Everyone lived in constant fear. That is why you’ve got to make sure you keep things in order here. The same thing cannot happen again.”
Stephen straightened his back and said confidently, “Don’t worry, Oliver. As long as I’m around, Riveria will only get better.
He did not know much about Riveria’s past. Growing up–in luxury, where everything was handed to him, it was hard for him to even imagine the struggles of those days.
Oliver chuckled. “We can definitely relax with you managing Riveria. However, please don’t let Snow down. She’s been through a lot.”
Stephen nodded firmly and said, “I swear to God, I’ll never harm her.”
“Good.”
Oliver smiled in satisfaction and said, “Let’s wrap up here. I have to go back to work. There’s still a lot to deal with regarding the stadium.”
Then, he turned and left.

Stephen did not stay either. He had to deal with several towns where, due to relocation, the people claimed they were underpaid and were unhappy with the town borders being redrawn. It had gotten so bad that they were on the verge of fighting over land.
As soon as Stephen left, Oliver’s smile faded, and his face became serious.
He
took out his phone and sent a message to a few businessmen. “Snow has seen Ethan.”
The moment the message was sent, panic spread among the others.
“Is Ethan coming back?”
“Should we run now?”
