The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 10

Since Yvonne was so protective of Jared, I couldn't be bothered to say anything else.

"In this case, let's stick to what we discussed before," I said promptly. "Each of us takes one child. Jonas comes with me. If you still refuse, I'll have to file for divorce and settle this in court."

I handed her the divorce agreement and a pen, signaling for her to sign it.

I was certain that she would sign. After all, her relationship with Jared was now making headlines. Our marriage would inevitably be exposed if we brought this matter to court.

The public would label Yvonne as an adulteress by then, and Jared, the highly adored superstar, would be branded as a homewrecker. Such media opinion would do them no good, and the best option was for her to sign the papers quickly.

Gripping the pen, Yvonne seemed as though she wanted to snap it in half. With a sullen expression, she ultimately signed the divorce agreement.

She then threw the pen onto the table and glowered at me. "Cole, you'll pay for this nonsensical act today."

I took the agreement and looked at the name on it, unable to stop myself from smiling. A sudden sense of relief washed over me.

What price would I have to pay? The best price would be finally getting our marriage dissolved.

Before Yvonne could storm out, I stopped her and asked, "Do you have time tomorrow? Let's go to the courthouse and finalize our divorce."

There was a cooling-off period before the divorce was finalized, so the sooner we acted, the sooner we could proceed with the proceedings.

"Do you really have to be in such a rush?" Yvonne snapped, clearly infuriated. "Fine. See you at the courthouse at 10:00 am tomorrow!"

"See you tomorrow," I replied calmly.

Although this house was the marital home I bought, the agreement stated that it would belong to Yvonne. I shouldn't stay here any longer.
