The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 395

Hayden was surprised as he asked incredulously, "You mean he wanted to sell his own sister?"

A marriage alliance was just a nice way of saying that a family sold their daughter.

"Yes," I replied.

I gazed out the window and smirked. "I thought that Chris wouldn't stoop this low no matter how heartless he was. She's his sister, after all."

They depended on each other for survival, and Chris practically raised Yolanda. Even so, he was still willing to do that.

Hayden couldn't help but curse, "What a piece of garbage."

"You didn't see the state she was in when I saw her," I replied.

I had dealt with women before, but I had always given them a swift resolution. Yolanda, however, looked like she had been tortured to the brink of insanity. It was my first time seeing that.

I described the scene to Hayden, and he was absolutely furious. "That guy will do anything for the sake of his personal gain."

Hayden looked at me and asked, "What are you planning on doing next? Surely, you can't just keep her around."

We weren't particularly compassionate people, and neither of us had any real connection to Yolanda. It wasn't a pleasant thing to see our father's illegitimate daughter every day either. There was no telling if we would shift our hatred for Henry onto Yolanda.

"I'll fund her tuition fees, and hopefully, she never comes back," I said. But I was planning on letting her help out at the company for a while as a way for her to repay me.

Hayden couldn't help but laugh when he heard that. "You're just too kind."

"Cut it out. I'm just doing this because Lorraine wants me to," I retorted.

Lorraine's words were what gave me the determination to do this when I was hesitating.

"That's just an excuse." Hayden exposed me without holding back, and I merely smiled back at him.

Meanwhile, Grandma stood before a disheveled-looking Henry. She didn't hold back her words, not caring if anyone overheard her. "Only an idiot like you could be manipulated by that no-good son of yours."
