"They can meet, but…" Yvonne wouldn't like me to let them be together. She didn't even like me seeing Xavier.
Lorraine read my mind and patted me gently on the shoulders. "Their mother is an indispensable part of their lives. If you can, take the children on outings with Ms. Langley more often."
I looked at Lorraine's serious expression, feeling the sudden urge to ask if she would get angry if I kept spending time with Yvonne. However, at the thought about how she was the one who decided to break up, I thought I was overthinking things.
Lorraine was doing well right now. I was sure she wouldn't want to get back together with me.
I looked at Xavier. "I hope he'll get better."
When I turned to look away, I didn't realize Lorraine looked away as well, her eyes gleaming with disappointment.
Spending time together at work made me admire Lorraine more. We had a great synergy at work, but because of this, our relationship seemed to grow distant as well. Our lives were becoming parallel lines that never met.
I snuck Lorraine a glance. How great it would be if she was the mother of my children.
"Jonas, come over here. "
I no longer wanted to think about my relationship issues. On the contrary, I wanted to care more for Jonas' mental well-being.
I saw Jonas shudder when he heard my voice.
"Daddy," he called out to me in hesitation, his eyes filled with fear.
Was he afraid of me?
