The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 167

"So, you know that our fight for Jonas is solely between us as well."

I tossed the photos at Yvonne's face. "Then why did you involve Lorraine in this mess?"

"Cole, she's about to become my son's stepmother! How can I not worry about that? Can you stop being unreasonable?"

A vein pulsated on Yvonne's forehead as she was extremely agitated. At first glance, one would've thought that she was very worried about Jonas.

"Yvonne, I warned you not to test my bottom line. It seems that you don't believe that I'll get Jared banned permanently in the entertainment industry, huh?"

I knew it. When I brought Jared up, Yvonne's expression darkened immediately.

Jared was her Achilles' heel. She'd lose her cool every time she was dealing with something that involved him.

"Did Jared save your life in the past? How is he more important than our kids?"

I couldn't be bothered to waste my breath on Yvonne after saying that. Instead, I gave her an hour to get rid of all the news regarding the incident at the bar.

"Don't delude yourself into thinking that your family can threaten me in any way."

"Are you seriously going that far for the sake of a woman?" Yvonne didn't expect that I'd be at odds with her over Lorraine.

"It's fine if you don't agree to my conditions," I said coolly.

Then, I dug out my phone and called Murphy. "I remember the premiere for Jared's new movie will be held on—"

"Cole, I'll get someone to remove the news right away!"

I raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised that Yvonne would give in so quickly. She continued hurriedly, "Don't do anything first!"

I watched as Yvonne called the media outlets and got them to remove their articles. Only then did I finally relax.

"Next, let's have a proper talk about Jonas."

Half an hour later, Yvonne still refused to relent.

"In that case, we can only take the court route. I trust that you've gotten your documents prepared. Cole, I didn't want things to come to this point at first."

When I had fought for the twins' custody rights with Yvonne in the past, she kept hoping that we could make things work out between us. But to think that it was her turn to initiate the next courtroom trial…

"If only Lorraine weren't in the picture…"

"Even if she weren't here, things between us still wouldn't be amicable."

I remained impassive even after noticing Yvonne's gaze going dull at my words. Once she left, I finally opened the document on my desk.
