Lorraine's voice was laced with a tinge of anger. This was my first time seeing Lorraine upset.

"Are you… jealous?" I looked at her, feeling slightly giddy. Was Lorraine jealous over me?

This was the first time she had visibly shown that she cared about me after such a long time.

"I'm not! I was just… reminding you that you're married now." Lorraine fumbled for an excuse, and I played along, nodding in agreement with her.

Immediately after, that black sedan car reversed once again, whizzing in our direction.

Lorraine screamed in fear. Then, she felt a sharp pang in her head and passed out immediately.

The pungent scent of the hospital's antibacterial solution burned my nostrils.

Lorraine's frown hadn't disappeared since that car accident.

She opened her eyes and found her entire body aching very badly. Before she passed out, the only thought she had in mind was, "I hope Cole's okay."

"You're awake!" Lorraine finally snapped back to her senses after hearing a familiar voice. She opened her eyes and saw me staring at her with overwhelming worry.

"Sorry for making you worry. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

Lorraine's face was ghastly pale. There had been a split second when I thought that she was going to leave me.

I sat beside Lorraine. Other than a scratch on my arm, I wasn't injured at all.

On the contrary, Lorraine fractured her ribs and had an open wound on her head. I had even felt her blood dripping down onto my arm at that time.

Fortunately, Murphy was still able to move after the accident. He got out of the car and immediately helped get us out.
