The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 204

"Don't worry. I won't do the same for you," I dismissed Yvonne.

Unfazed, I continued dressing Lorraine. She was flustered at first, but she eventually gave in and let me do anything to her. She resembled a languorous kitten who wouldn't get mad no matter what I did to her.

Yvonne stood by the door for a moment. She finally couldn't bear it and stormed off.

When Lorraine and I left the hotel, I noticed a flash from the corners of my eyes. I glanced in its direction, but no one was there.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

She still hadn't fully recovered, so she was walking in a somewhat awkward posture.

"It's nothing," I said, wrapping my arm around her waist and glancing back occasionally.

I was probably mistaken. If it really were the paparazzi, why would they take photos of us?

Everyone gave Lorraine odd looks when we returned to the company. I saw people eyeing us, but they didn't dare utter a word.

"What rumors did you all hear this time?" I confronted them with a sneer.

One of my bolder employees met my gaze and whispered, "Ms. Langley came by just now."

I raised an eyebrow, signaling her to continue.

"She said she's going to remarry you."

"Who did she talk to?"

"She was here for Murphy, but he wasn't around. She said she'll attend an interview next Monday and hopes that you'll go with her."

I snorted. "Another pointless interview again."

When I was with her back then, I often accompanied her on such occasions. Sending me an invitation already seemed like a habit of hers.

"I'm not free," I said.

Sensing that the employee was still going to continue, I dismissed her with a wave and said, "Tell her I'm not free if she calls."
