Jared couldn't even secure his own job, let alone protect someone else's child.
Noticing Yvonne's expression darken, I grabbed her shoulders and squeezed them.
"Yvonne, don't be naive. You don't even care about your own child, yet you expect Jared to take care of him for you?"
I didn't trust either of them.
"If it weren't for Xavier not wanting to leave you, do you think I'd let him stay here?"
These two would eventually ruin Xavier, and I absolutely couldn't let that happen.
Yvonne frowned, unable to find a retort. Her fingers were trembling. Just as I was about to keep pressuring her, a series of hurried footsteps sounded from behind me.
"Cole, I know you're impressive, but you've gone too far!"
Jared hadn't intended to show himself, but Yvonne's falter worried him. He feared she might hand over Xavier's contract in the next moment.
"Finally willing to show yourself, huh?" I glanced in his direction and mocked, "Your taste in women is impeccable. You found a woman who's willing to take the fall for you."
Yvonne turned toward me and tried to explain, but I dismissed her with a wave. I couldn't be bothered to argue with her.
"Where's Xavier's contract?"
"It's indeed with me," Jared admitted, spreading his hands.
He took a seat across from me and continued, "We've signed a ten-year contract. If you want to take him away, you'll need to pay me a termination fee of at least a hundred million dollars."
"A hundred million dollars?" I echoed, wondering if he was implying that Xavier could earn that much in ten years.
Sensing my skepticism, Jared smiled and said, "Cole, I might lack business acumen, but you've got to trust my gut when it comes to the entertainment industry."
