The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 335

This was obviously the first time Kayson's parents had met someone like me. They turned to the teacher for help.

"Ms. Cranston, you didn't mention anything about paying just now."

They were already intending to let go of the matter, yet here I was, asking them for compensation.

Mary Cranston awkwardly walked toward me. She was about to say something when I stopped her. "I don't know what you said to them to change their minds, but I'll pay what I should pay. Likewise, I'll ask for compensation for my son."

Whether Xavier needed it or not, I didn't care. I needed him to know that I would always stand up for him.

"I'll get my secretary to deal with the accounts with you. I hope you'll keep your word."

Then, I took Xavier and Lorraine out of the office.

Jonas had been waiting for us by the door. When he saw us coming out in one piece, he sighed in relief.

"Daddy, don't blame Xavier." He hugged my legs, afraid I would take out my anger on Xavier.

"Xavier is a victim. I won't blame him."

I looked at Xavier, who looked a little lost. He exchanged glances with Lorraine. He had never liked Lorraine, but at that moment, he was hiding behind her.

Lorraine moved aside and patted him on the shoulder. "Go to your daddy."

Xavier wanted to be close to me, but he was afraid that Yvonne would get angry. More importantly, he felt that he was no longer my son and shouldn't trouble me.

"Come here." I opened my arms at Xavier. He mustered the courage to walk over to me. My heart broke a little when I saw how red his face was due to nervousness.
