"What do you mean?" Yvonne looked confused and worried.
"Xavier has really suffered under your care," I remarked.
Her mind was just consumed by thoughts of money, like how to make it and how to get more of it. She was becoming less and less like herself.
I couldn't help but ask her, "When do you plan on getting a divorce?"
Jared was still caught up in my earlier question. I watched as he scratched his head and occasionally glanced at Xavier. Even though he was trying his best to hide his emotions, I could still see a glint of resentment in his eyes.
Xavier had earned so much money for him, yet he was filled with hesitation when Xavier needed him. Staying with someone like that would only lead to heartbreak.
"Transfer Xavier's contract to me," I told her.
I knew Yvonne would never agree, but I wasn't asking for her approval in the first place. "This isn't a negotiation."
Yvonne's eyes widened in disbelief. She didn't expect me to be so harsh.
"I'm just notifying you. You'd better act quickly, or I'll definitely take legal action," I continued.
I turned my attention to Jared. "You know better than me how long his company can last."
The money Xavier was earning couldn't possibly offset the company's losses.
I had only done a surface-level investigation and didn't know the specifics, but it was obvious that they had financial troubles.
"If you still want a peaceful life, sign Xavier over to my company," I ordered.
I could guarantee that Xavier would live a life of comfort and security.
"That's your son. It's up to you how much you want to give him, but Xavier is already pitiful enough. He can't end up with nothing." Yvonne looked at me as if I was some villain who was ready to harm Xavier at any moment.
"You said it yourself—he's my son. How could I harm him?" I asked.
