Although Fiona did not know much about running a company and did not know about market worth, she knew that Wendy should not have spoken up for Ethan at that moment.
"Wendy, my phone's been having problems recently. Come to my room with me and help me take a look at it." She put down her knife and fork and pulled Wendy inside.
Without Wendy, who was dumb enough to help outsiders, Harold did not try to hide anything. He asked directly, "Your uncle probably doesn't know about the Jennings Corporation's situation yet, right?"
"Yeah." Ethan nodded, smiling.
Harold's eyes were gleaming, as if he could see right through him. "So, what do you want?"
"Mr. Jennings, you were against me and Wendy back then, and you said that it was because I wasn't worthy of her. I think that I'm now capable enough to be with Wendy and help her to manage and run this company."
Ethan paused and added, "As long as you agree to me and Wendy dating, I can hide it from my uncle and tell him to buy 10% of the shares in Jennings Corporation with 100 million dollars."
"Is that your only request?" Harold narrowed his eyes slightly.
Ethan looked perfectly sincere as he said, "Mr. Jennings, I didn't come back to the country and join Jennings Corporation for the money. I did it because I genuinely like Wendy and want to be with her."
"So, you approached Wendy on purpose and caused trouble in her relationship with Zachary?" Harold scoffed. There was a disdainful look in his eyes. "Don't bother with that hypocritical demeanor of yours. I'm not as dumb as Wendy is. I know very well what you're thinking!"
"Mr. Jennings, you've misunderstood. I—" Ethan tried to protest.
However, Harold could not be bothered to listen. He retorted with a statement that left Ethan speechless. "Don't explain. If you really did like Wendy, you wouldn't have taken the one million dollars I gave you back then and left the country."
Ethan looked rather awkward. He could not say anything about that.
"Don't worry! Wendy doesn't know about that, and if you really are capable, I wouldn't mind the two of you being together. However, one's capability isn't based on what they say, but instead on what they do. You're a smart man. You should know what I mean."
Since Harold had made himself so clear, Ethan did know what he meant.
He nodded and said, "Don't worry, Mr. Jennings. I know what to do. When you've prepared the contract for transferring 10% of the shares for 100 million dollars, I'll deliver it to my uncle at once."
"I'll draft the contract by Monday. If there isn't anything else, go call Fiona and Wendy out so that we can eat."
They had finished all the necessary discussions, so Harold did not say anything else.
After they had eaten, Wendy went with Ethan to send him off.
Ethan smiled happily the entire time. "Wendy, I discussed our relationship with Mr. Jennings just now, and he isn't against our relationship."
When Wendy heard this, a strange look flashed in her eyes.
She asserted softly, but did not react much.
