Abigail, standing nearby, quickly stepped forward with a charming smile, took Freya’s hand, and turned to Nathaniel. “Nathan, I apologize. I didn’t inform you.” 

“When I was at the office. Ms. Gomez offered to assist me in choosing a wedding gown, seemingly as a way to make amends for a past mistake. I didn’t give it much thought and invited her along.” 

Freya nearly laughed in disbelief. It turned out that Nathaniel hadn’t intended to invite her to the bridal boutique; this woman was playing games from the start.
