The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret novel Chapter 268

Feeling overwhelmed and in need of rest, Frey drove to the nearest clinic to get her head wound treated. After enduring so much, this injury was just another minor setback.

She reflected on the past and the debt she felt she owed Jacob. But after today’s incident, she was ready to move forward.

Back at her apartment, Frey made a bowl of porridge and took a shower, preparing for her first day at the new company tomorrow.

She contemplated taking a few days off, considering the injury, but she didn't want to appear unreliable. It seemed ironic that, despite being the boss, she had to balance appearances.

Frey was lost in thought at her easel when a violent knock at the door jolted her. Rushing to answer it, she found Peyton standing there, looking worried and flushed from her illness.

"Are you okay? Your phone was off, and I was terrified!" Peyton exclaimed. "I heard you were beaten up, and there's a video of it online."

"Did the Rivera family do this? Why didn't Jacob stop his mother? Is she unwell?"

"The Rivera family is having a rough time, but that’s not your fault. Jacob likes you but can’t have you, and he’s unable to defeat Nathaniel. Why should you be blamed? And why should you bear the brunt of their family’s problems?"

Peyton continued, her frustration palpable. "When Nathaniel forcibly took you, he even got on a helicopter..."

"Peyton!" Frey interrupted sharply, her face showing strain. Although she had grown numb to humiliations in the past, it didn’t mean she had forgotten them.

Peyton, trembling with anger, suddenly embraced Frey tightly, tears streaming down her face. "I’m so sorry for what they’ve done to you. You don’t deserve this!"
