The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving novel Chapter 228

Jason noticed that Evelyn kept her head down, completely focused on her work as if she truly no longer felt anything for Lucas.

He closed his eyes and thought about something for a moment. Then, he took a sip of his wine.

Oddly enough, he felt a wave of relief.

Evelyn knew which books Tiffany was talking about. They were the same ones Lucas had brought back from Grant Manor two days ago.

She was not surprised and did not feel a single ripple of emotion.

Although Graham had turned down Tiffany for the application to the master's program, she did dwell on it for too long. Instead, Tiffany continued to consult Graham on her questions.

As a seasoned expert, Graham still gave a few replies to her questions related to the field.

Across Evelyn sat Tim and Quint. Uninterested in the gossip, Quint leaned over to chat with Evelyn. His expression was full of enthusiasm.

As Jason took a sip of his wine, he caught sight of the scene. A flicker of surprise passed through his eyes.

He knew Quint to be a serious engineer in his company who went by the book. But here he was, showing enthusiasm and friendliness toward Evelyn.

It made Jason wonder about it.

A few seats away, Tiffany sat in the front row.

Someone casually asked, "Ms. Moore, since Mr. Grant has been by your side this whole time, we're all quite curious. How did you two meet?"

Just like that, the conversation shifted to the two of them.

Lucas looked up, unhurried and calm.

Tiffany could not help but chuckle lightly. "Us? Well…"

Sebastian took a sip of water, then leaned toward Evelyn and whispered, "Who's actually curious about the details of his affair?"

Evelyn finished the last line of her summary and turned off her phone. She could now remain completely detached from this topic.

As long as Lucas was present, he and Tiffany would always be the center of attention. But she was not interested anymore.

Yet, before Tiffany could continue, Mason jumped in eagerly, his brows raised with amusement. "Tiffany is too shy, so I'll tell the story."

"It was last July, wasn't it? Lucas had business dealings with Tiffany's stepfather's company. They had met a couple of times during that period.

"Later, Lucas attended an art exhibition in Erana and ran into Tiffany again. She was helping Ms. Healy with the exhibition. Lucas took a liking to one of Ms. Healy's paintings, and Tiffany handled the follow-up. After a few meetings back and forth—well… We could say that it was fate!"

Mason could be considered a witness to their love story.

After all, the art exhibitions in Erana were a big deal. That summer, Lucas had plenty of time on his hands and often attended them.

Mason had tagged along more than once.

Tiffany smiled with embarrassment. "Lucas would occasionally fly over for the art exhibitions. I happened to know a bit about art too, so we ended up getting to know each other."

Lucas thought of something and smiled.
