The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving novel Chapter 229

Evelyn slowed her steps and frowned. She had not expected to run into them while on a simple walk.

As for the nursery Mason mentioned, there was never a designated place for a nursery in their marital home.

That house had its layout fixed from the moment they moved in after marriage.

The third floor consisted of Lucas' study, a gym, and a room to welcome guests with tea.

Meanwhile, the second floor housed their bedroom, Evelyn's study, and a walk-in closet.

Even after years of marriage, Lucas never brought up the idea of having a nursery.

Throughout her three years of marriage, Lucas was never interested in having children with her. He kept delaying it for as long as he could.

But now, he had remodeled the house's layout and even added a nursery.

For a man like him to change, all she could say was he had met his true love.

Evelyn did not walk any further. She turned and walked back to her room.

As soon as she entered her room, she received a call from Deborah. She asked how Evelyn planned to spend her birthday tomorrow.

Evelyn paused. She had forgotten that her birthday was tomorrow.

She thought for a moment and answered that she would decide after finishing her work.

The next day, Evelyn prepared a printed copy of her analysis and summary before heading downstairs.

Graham did not like reading things digitally.

She received Justine's message when she stepped out of the elevator, wishing her a happy birthday.

She also mentioned that she had Evelyn's present prepared and would give it to her when she returned to Clementon.

Evelyn smiled and kept her phone away, ready to continue walking.

Behind her, someone was pushing a luggage cart out of the elevator. It bumped into Evelyn due to her being in a blind spot. She staggered, her purse and the documents in her hands falling to the ground.

The person quickly apologized.

Evelyn did not mind it and waved her hand. "It's okay."

She bent down to pick up her things. At this moment, a pair of legs came into her view, bending down and picking up everything for her.

Brandon glanced at the contents of the papers out of habit.

He froze for a second and frowned.

When Evelyn saw it was Brandon, her lips pressed into a line, and her expression went cold. She swiftly pulled back everything from his hand.

Brandon noticed her attitude.

Honestly, he did not see that it was Evelyn at first. He had just come over to help when it happened.

If he had known it was Evelyn, he would not have bothered.

Now, facing Evelyn's cold expression, he could not help but frown. "Ms. Reed, so this is how you thank someone?"

Evelyn kept her documents away, and her gaze was icy cold. "Sometimes, being too self-righteous would cause trouble for others."

She could not be bothered to argue with Brandon. She turned on her heels and walked away.

Brandon's expression shifted. He stared at her, annoyed. What was with that woman's unpredictable temper?

However, he recalled what he had seen in her documents. The level of professionalism it contained was beyond what he imagined.

How could something like that end up in her hands? He frowned, thinking about it deeply.

"Mr. Connor?"

Behind him, Tiffany stepped out of the elevator and saw him. She approached with a polite greeting.

Brandon snapped out of it and turned to her. "Where's Mr. Grant?" He smiled.

"He went down before me and is already waiting outside," Tiffany answered with a gentle smile.

Brandon paused instinctively. "You two are staying together?"
