Chapter 108
When the two of them were pulled apart, Harley already got injured.
Many of them might seem like stepping in to mediate. In reality, they used the opportunity to harm Harley.
Harley clutched his chest with blood on the corners of his mouth.
Bryan, on the other hand, looked much better.
Everyone was standing by his side.
He gazed at Harley, who looked disheveled coldly.
Harley had specially dressed up and attended the class reunion in decent clothes.
However, one would seize the opportunity to hit a man who was down. Even if he looked good on the surface, it could no longer change the fact that he was useless…
People were realistic.
They looked at Harley as well as the plainly–dressed Madeline behind him. Their eyes were full of amusement and ridicule.
No one would speak up for Harley, even though they had praised and envious of him and wanted to curry favor with him to ask for his help in August.
“What an ignorant person you are, Harley. You can’t even take a joke. Mr. Labiche is helping you out. How could you make a move against him?” Harold said with a frown.
He paused before continuing, “Besides, look at your family’s situation. Mr. Labiche having a crush on your sister is a sign of respect for you. Otherwise, with such a messy family of yours, who would like to date your sister?”
Harley immediately felt a bitter chill swept over him.
Half a month ago, Harley had helped Harold’s children with admission to public preschool at no cost.
Yet, Harold’s attitude changed quickly at that moment.
Lillian, too, criticized, “That’s right. Mr. Labiche is going to attend the party of the chamber of commerce. What will others comment when they see his face? You still don’t recognize the two of you have very different statuses, do you? If Mr. Labiche wants to argue with you, your family won’t be able to stay in Acocester anymore.”
Stunned, Harley stared at Lillian and thought, “This woman had no money to file a lawsuit for divorce. Tiffany even borrowed 6,000 dollars from me and did not return a penny until now.”
Lillian felt a little uncomfortable by his stare. “What I said is true…”
Harley lowered his head. There was a hint of self–deprecation on his gentle face.
He mused, “It turns out that status is so important. I only had a downfall for a short time, yet those people already humiliated me like this. I shouldn’t have been a good person and taken good care of others back then.”
“You guys didn’t invite me to the class reunion to help me but to make fun of me and insult me, huh?” he asked.
“You’re only getting it now!” Bryan pridefully looked at a miserable Harley. “Haha! You’re so useless. So what if I insulted you?”
Harley was isolated alone.
Breathing heavily, he wanted to make a move again, but his arm was grabbed by a hand.
He looked back and found it was Madeline.
Madeline was not angry. In fact, such a scene was not uncommon to her.
After all, she had been a target of scorn before.
Harley was only experiencing what she had been through.

Chapter 108
“That’s enough.” She let go of her hand in disgust as if she had touched something dirty.
She looked away and did not even want to spare Harley another glance. “Don’t humiliate yourself if you can’t win. You should indeed recognize your situation and understand that weakness is a sin.”
Harley’s face instantly turned pale when he heard that.
Bryan thought Madeline was going to help Harley. Little did he expect that she would say so.
“Haha! Even your sister looks down on you! What a loser!”
He looked at Madeline’s beautiful face and said, “Young lady, why don’t you just follow me? Well, at least I have money. I’ve always been generous and spent a lot of money on my women.”
Lillian tutted, “You’re only 18 years old. Even two years with Mr. Labiche is enough for you to make a fortune. However, you will never take the position as his legal spouse with your family background. You must mentally prepare yourself to be a mistress.”
The women roared with laughter.
Although they were envious that Madeline could have a few hundred thousand dollars at once, they pretended to disdain her.
“Wow! It’s so easy to make money.”
“You got it right.”
“Shut up!” Harley’s eyes were bloodshot. Harley clenched his jaw so tight that he could taste a stench of blood in his mouth.
Madeline walked up to Harley and flashed Bryan a smile.
Her smile immediately swept away the aloofness like a spring breeze.
“Are you very rich?”
People outside had hurriedly sent a waitress in to clean up the broken plates and cups once they heard the sound of the table falling. Naturally, the waitress heard such a conversation.
After cleaning up, she hurried out and closed the door again.
Meanwhile, Charlotte was outside, frowning. “What’s happening inside? Was there a fight? Madeline is making trouble, isn’t she?”
She only wanted to flatter Bryan and did not want to offend him.
The waitress told her the situation inside.
Charlotte sneered, “Madeline is so lucky! I’m surprised that Mr. Labiche is willing to keep her as a lover with a few hundred thousand dollars. Why is she pretending to be pure and noble just now? She’s a bitch in the first place.”
Samuel echoed, “Well, that’s a few hundred thousand dollars. It’s probably impossible for a country bumpkin like her to earn that much in her lifetime. It’s normal for her to be wavered.”
“Of course! It’s not easy to be a mistress. Men will get bored of you at any time.” Charlotte’s eyes were filled with a sense of superiority as she spoke. “Isn’t that what pauper girls do? What other opportunities can they have except selling themselves to men?”
She belittled Madeline without hesitation.
Back then, she was a rich girl in the class and often shunned Madeline with Winslet.
Never did she expect that a pauper country bumpkin would defeat her in the last exam.
She could only repeat a year and rolled with things for now.
Seeing that Madeline had become such a beautiful female top student, she eagerly wanted to prove that she was still much better than Madeline.
