Chapter 107 

Charlotte tossed a black dress to Madeline. 

“Hey, wear this.” She tossed something else over. “The silk stockings are here. They’re new. Go change into high heels.” 

Charlotte crossed her arms around her chest and sneered at Madeline condescendingly, “Once you’re there, pay attention to what Mr. Labiche wants and serve him properly. If he wants you to pour wine, you pour it. Understand? If you do your job well, I’ll add 20 dollars extra to your tip today.” 

Madeline picked up the clothing. The black dress was a very short slip dress that could hardly cover her buttocks. 

It would expose her backside if she leaned over while wearing the dress. 

The stockings were also black, but the pattern on them looked trashy. 

“I’m not wearing these.” Madeline hurled the clothing away in disgust. “If you want to make unnecessary requests and create hassle, I’ll leave.” 

“Duh! Madeline, who do you think you’re talking to?” Charlotte squinted her eyes and spoke with a sour and petty expression. “You think you’re no longer a country bumpkin after enrolling at a reputable university? Don’t you have to earn money, too?” 

“Isn’t your family destitute? Can your family in the countryside actually afford your tuition?” Charlotte continued shrilly and arrogantly, “How about 60 dollars? Don’t you want to earn some easy cash?” 

“Who told you my family couldn’t afford my tuition?” With some suspicions, Madeline retorted incredulously. 

“Everyone knows your familial status when you transferred from another school. Your parents have disappeared, leaving only your grandparents farming in the countryside to provide for your tuition.” Charlotte’s speech was rude. “At that time, Winslet told us that you’re an orphan. Even your grandparents aren’t your biological grandparents.” 

“I wouldn’t have offered you this opportunity if I didn’t pity you.” She continued to deride Madeline. “Stop that oh–so–innocent facade. Change into that dress and go serve wine in the private room.” 

“Huh,” Madeline sneered in response, “If you like the dress so much, why don’t you wear it?” She glanced at her phone and said, “I’m leaving.” 

“Hey! Wait!” Charlotte screeched nervously. Charlotte thought Madeline was playing hard to get, which would ruin her plans. 

“She’s no prominent young lady yet pretending to be one!” she bellowed inwardly. 

She gritted her teeth in anger and continued screaming in her mind. ‘If it weren’t for Mr. Labiche, who requests specifically to meet her, I wouldn’t even speak to Madeline. 

I’m the young lady of the Wallis family, which owns the Grand Clement Hotel. My family has assets worth millions of dollars! Dealing with the poor will only make me smell like a pauper. 

The more I interact with her, the more I waste my precious life. Several thoughts ran through Charlotte’s head. 

Running out of time and choice, she gave up persuading Madeline. “Fine. Don’t wear it if you don’t want to, just go to the private room. Remember, you must pay the utmost attention to Mr. Labiche’s mood. Mr. Labiche ‘s the heir of a listed company, and it won’t go wrong for you to have a good relationship with him. Heh, be grateful because I’m kind enough to remind you!” She sneered, “After all, studying at a reputable university is still useless for a woman. The only things that matter in this society are money and power.” 

Madeline glanced at her fleetingly. Madeline found Charlotte’s mindset pathetic. 

She left for the private room without uttering another word. 

The sign at the private room’s door indicated it was booked for the seventh yearly class reunion of the Class 6 of 12th Grade. Madeline knocked on the door and went in. 

The waitress in the room exited right after she came in. 

Madeline’s glance swept across the room. Illuminated by dim, yellow light, the private room recked of the pungent smell of alcohol and smoke, which caused her to frown slightly.

Chapter 107 

Before she made another move, the man in the main seat laughed. 

Bryan’s complexion was sallow and unhealthy, alluding to his renal deficiency due to his playboy lifestyle of uncontrolled drinking and philandering. His smile was similarly disgusting. “Oh, Madeline is here. Come over quickly and pour me wine.” 

Everyone’s attention went to Madeline, who was standing at the entrance. 

The girl was tall and voluptuous. She was not wearing any makeup. She had beautifully tanned skin and long dark hair. 

As she was standing at the entrance, she looked like a movie star with an indifferent but gorgeous face. 

“How beautiful!” everyone thought. 

However, the class belle, Lillian, showed hostility to the girl. “No wonder Mr. Labiche gives me the cold shoulder. Mr. Labiche has summoned a little girl for himself,” she scowled inwardly. 

Madeline’s appearance dumbfounded Harley, and he failed to control his facial expression. 

Perhaps he was stunned because he didn’t expect Madeline to show up. He thought Bryan was joking. 

After all, Madeline’s identity and status were so prestigious that even Bryan’s father would have to bow and flatter her subserviently if he was present. 

Next, he was worried. 

He was somewhat worried about his reckless and foolish former classmates, as they might meet a terrible ending after messing with Madeline. 

With her eyebrows locked, Madeline looked at Bryan coldly. “So you know me?” 

Bryan took a sip of wine and said insouciantly, “Of course. I’m the one who asked Charlotte to arrange for your presence here… I’ve set my eyes on you. How do I court you?” 

“In your dreams,” Madeline sneered. 

Madeline mused, ‘I thought it was a misunderstanding when I mistakenly agreed to this part–time job invitation. 

Now the situation is more clear. It looks like someone’s scheming against me. 

I don’t know what this particular Mr. Labiche wants from me and why he’s plotting against me. 

I have no memory of getting acquainted with him. Madeline silently appraised her situation. 

“You know, I’m a classmate and friend of your brother. If you become my woman, my relationship with Harley will be even closer,” Bryan taunted. “You’re 18 years old, right? Have you learned how to please a man?” 

The insult was indirect, but Harley felt it. The boiling emotions in his eyes showed he tried his best to control himself. 

Harold tutted, “Mr. Labiche. Be reminded we have many female classmates here.” 

“They’re all seasoned old–timers in this matter. Is anyone here feigning innocence? Will it surprise you if I sleep with Madeline here today?” 

Harley’s grim expression entertained Bryan greatly. Eyes full of malicious smugness, the latter spewed out increasingly vulgar words. Bryan smirked internally. ‘What goes around comes around. I had to play second fiddle to Harley no matter what I did in the past. Now, I’m humiliating his sister in public, and he dares not let out even the tiniest whimper. 

“Madeline, Charlotte told me you’re short on money.” 

He yanked his wallet from his pocket and pulled out a thick stack of green banknotes. “If you stay here and let me have fun with you, they’ll be all yours. If it’s not enough, I have a few hundred thousand dollars on my card.” 

Everyone took a deep breath. 

They were all common employees and workers. None of them could casually toss around a few hundred thousand dollars to toy with an 18–year–old girl like Bryan.
