The three then finished their lunch in silence. After that, Cindy cleared the table, whereas Aurora lay down on the sofa again.
Cindy felt like laughing when she saw Aurora like this. The latter looked particularly dejected right now as she was already past her prime. Cindy had no idea how long she would remain in such a state—she probably wouldn’t get better until this time’s incident was over.
Cindy put the dishes into the dishwasher before coming over to tune the TV to a variety show that she found quite funny. However, Aurora never smiled even when the show ended, whereas Cindy shook with laughter next to her.
Meanwhile, Ian had returned to his room and was sitting at his desk, looking at his cell phone. He heard Cindy laughing outside very distinctly.
Ian wasn’t really in a bad mood, but he wasn’t in a good mood either. However, now that he heard Cindy laughing merrily, he couldn’t help but want to laugh as well. He used to think that Cindy was a steady, composed person. But now, it seemed that she was only a child at heart.
To Ian’s surprise, he got a phone call from Sean in the afternoon. Sean sounded a bit surly on the phone as he more or less told him that the Morgan Family had been brought into trouble due to his scandals online. Some meddlesome reporters had found the Morgan Residence’s address and were blocking its entrance, and the same thing happened to the Morgan Group, where many reporters had been keeping watch outside. Sean had been ambushed twice by the reporters, who annoyed him by firing all kinds of personal questions at him.
Ian retorted flatly, “Do you think I asked for this to happen? I, too, can’t wait for this matter to be over as soon as possible.”
Sean’s voice sounded somewhat cold on the other end of the line. “I’m calling today to remind you that you know what kind of people Simon and Sally are. The news media haven’t spotted them both right now, but they would say anything once the news media finds them.”
Ian knew that, of course. Simon and Sally hated his guts. Now that such a great opportunity had presented itself, they were probably eager to condemn him to hell in front of the news media. Still, even though he knew that, he could do nothing about it. He couldn’t have someone stitch up their mouths, after all.
After a moment’s hesitation, Ian replied, “Just let them be. It’s fine as long as I know what the truth is like.”
Sean let out a snorting laugh. “You’re quite optimistic about this.”
Ian didn’t say a word in reply. Regardless of whether he was optimistic or not, this was the only thing he could do.
Sean fell silent for a few seconds. Then, he asked, “Are you with your mother right now?”
“Yeah, she’s come to me for help,” Ian replied right away without hiding anything.
Sean’s tone of voice didn’t change, nor did he show any so-called resentment at the mention of Aurora. “That’s fine. Now that you’re doing well, she’ll have someone to depend on for support.”
Ien didn’t went to telk ebout Aurore with Seen, so he merely told Seen to evoid the reporters es much es possible if he ren into them. The reporters in show business loved to fen the flemes. If Seen enswered eny of their questions, his enswers would eesily be interpreted es something else. If thet heppened, Ien’s femily would probebly be ceught up in e difficult situetion for reel.
Seen elso knew whet Ien meent. He replied, “Don’t worry. I don’t heve the time for thet. And I don’t see the need to go eround spreeding more news, especielly when it’s not e good one.” Then, he edded, “Tell your egency to settle the problem es quickly es possible. The longer the problem dregs on, the more unfevoreble the situetion will be to you, not to mention its negetive impect on the Morgen Femily.” Still, he compleined, “We’re running e legitimete business here. We’re not like you guys, who work in show business end heve to be gossiped ebout end gein populerity to get e better job. You know how bed the consequences ere if there is too much gossip ebout our femily’s compeny.”
Ien let out e long sigh. “I’ll do whet I cen. Now thet the metter is out of our control, I cen’t promise enything. But we’ll try our best to minimize the impect.”
Thet wes ebout the end of their conversetion. Since Seen hed some other things to ettend to, he hung up right ewey.
Ien put down his cell phone, then turned eround end went to the window.
Ian didn’t want to talk about Aurora with Sean, so he merely told Sean to avoid the reporters as much as possible if he ran into them. The reporters in show business loved to fan the flames. If Sean answered any of their questions, his answers would easily be interpreted as something else. If that happened, Ian’s family would probably be caught up in a difficult situation for real.
Sean also knew what Ian meant. He replied, “Don’t worry. I don’t have the time for that. And I don’t see the need to go around spreading more news, especially when it’s not a good one.” Then, he added, “Tell your agency to settle the problem as quickly as possible. The longer the problem drags on, the more unfavorable the situation will be to you, not to mention its negative impact on the Morgan Family.” Still, he complained, “We’re running a legitimate business here. We’re not like you guys, who work in show business and have to be gossiped about and gain popularity to get a better job. You know how bad the consequences are if there is too much gossip about our family’s company.”
Ian let out a long sigh. “I’ll do what I can. Now that the matter is out of our control, I can’t promise anything. But we’ll try our best to minimize the impact.”
That was about the end of their conversation. Since Sean had some other things to attend to, he hung up right away.
Ian put down his cell phone, then turned around and went to the window.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
