Cindy could only nod. "Let's hope so."
Aurora was now done with her makeup and it was Ian's turn.
His was easy to do, as it only required fixing his hair and touching up his makeup.
With that, the three left the room. By the time they returned to the engagement party, half of the food had already been served.
They didn't invite too many people, so everyone fit nicely at one big table. Ian first brought Cindy to toast everyone.
Logan, on the other hand, acted as though it was his engagement party, standing up and bawling.
Lola was frustrated as she sat beside him. "Can't you sit still for a while? Don't act like you are the groom."
At that, Logan grunted. "I'm only trying to liven up the atmosphere for Ian, aren't I?"
Ian, however, pressed his hand on Logan's shoulder. "Alright, alright. C'mon, sit down and eat. You had to run around earlier. Take a break."
It was only then that Logan finally sat down. Then, Lola turned to glance at him. "I suddenly have flashbacks of how you acted when we got married. Are you sure you're not a standup comedian?"
Logan burst into a chuckle at that. "Do I look like one? Then you gotta pay up."
Lola snorted a laugh in response. She decided to end the topic there, for she knew he would only ramble on if she said anything more.
When Ian got to Sean during the toast session, the latter stood up with his wine glass and congratulated Ian, then downed the entire glass of wine.
Ian sighed. "I hope I get to attend your's next."
Sean chuckled at that. "You can forget about it. I like my life now. Sometimes, you don't need another half to make your life complete. Living a bachelor's life isn't all that bad."
Seeing that the man stuck to his ways, Ian knew he couldn't persuade Sean too much, so he downed his glass of wine as well.
On the other hand, Cindy didn't drink much. There weren't many she had to toast in the first place. What was more, they were all understanding of her.
Plus, Ian bent the elbow, so she definitely had to stay relatively sober.
Somewhere along the way, she got what they were trying to do so in the end, she only held a glass of juice and took a sip every time.
After a round of toasting, the couple sat down. Cindy was beginning to feel hungry at that point. She was a little emotional in the morning, so she barely ate.
Though she wasn't busy earlier, she wasn't free either. Now that the food was in front of them, coupled with an empty stomach, she didn't stand on ceremony with everyone and ate away. After all, they were her friends and family.
Meanwhile, Ian, John, Logan, and Sean huddled together and talked a little about work before mentioning Cindy's work situation.
At that, Logan got a little jumpy. "Cindy's working for someone else now? She's not your assistant anymore? What are you going to do? Won't she get jealous if you have another woman by your side?"
Ian shot him a glare. "There is no other woman by my side. I'm not giving her a chance to be jealous."
Baffled, Logan pressed on, "Dude, you're already a household name, and you don't even have an assistant?!"
John burst into laughter and slapped Logan's arm. "Is your mind really that simple? Who says an assistant has to be a woman? What are you thinking?"
Logan grunted in revelation at that. "Right, right. I've thought too plainly. A guy can also be an assistant. How have I forgotten that?"
Then, he chuckled awkwardly. "Well, it's because I think women are more attentive, and they consider things to a more detailed degree. If a guy like me becomes Ian's assistant, he'll probably have to remind me what to do."
Sitting off to one side, Lola overheard her husband's words and decided to ridicule him. "How many people do you think have your character? You're the only one, and I've even bagged you up."
Logan's face turned grim at that. However, he didn't dare to be rude in front of his wife, so he still asked gently despite his stern expression, "Don't ridicule me in front of everyone, please, dear? Everyone's looking. I'm still 'Young Master Logan' no matter what."
Lola snorted a laugh at that. "You're still mindful of your reputation in front of me? You might as well just sober up."

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
