Many days later, Lyra woke up in the palace. Julian was lying next to her, sleeping peacefully. She smiled as she looked at him, a warm feeling blooming in her chest. She fought the urge to touch his face, afraid to wake him.
However, when she turned to leave the bed, his arm shot out and hooked around her waist. “Don’t go,” he murmured sleepily.
Lyra’s smile widened in amusement as she looked back at him. “You are awake?”
He shook his head, his eyes still closed. “No.”
She laughed and tapped his hand. “Get up, Your Majesty,” she teased. “We have a kingdom to run.”
He tightened his hold around her, pulling her to him. “They can survive a few hours without us. It’s not like an evil witch is going to fly in and blast us all to hell.”
“Haha,” Lyra laughed dryly. “I’m glad you can joke about that.”
Julian opened his eyes and smiled. “Me too.”
They both burst laughing, with Lyra falling back to his side. Julian reached for her face and kissed her. Lyra kissed him back, getting lost in the moment. When his hand wandered to her chest, she pulled back.
“We really have to go,” she told him. “Remember, Zero and Anna are going back to the Azure Pack today. We have to see them off.”
“Do we?” Julian asked, pressing his lips to her neck.
“Yes,” Lyra replied, pushing him away and getting out of bed. “Stop being so naughty.”
Julian fake-gasped. “I don’t think anyone has ever accused me of being naughty before.”
“They were probably busy kissing your ass so you wouldn’t behead them,” she replied.
“What…am not a bad king!”
“I didn’t say you are.”
“I don’t behead people for fun!”
“No, you don’t,” she called over her shoulder as she made her way to the bathroom.
“Lyra!” he protested, getting out of bed. “Let us settle this right now.”

By the time they made it out of their room, it was well after breakfast and Zero and Anna were ready to leave. Anna had long recovered from Valeria’s possession, and both of them were in good health and high spirits.
After the showdown with Valeria, the palace had made Anna’s contribution to finding the witch public. This had dispelled the rumours that accused her of working for the witches.
Now, rather than point fingers at her, people were curious as to how she had survived living with the witches. The Azure elders who were against her marriage to Zero now puffed up their chests, bragging about how their Luna had played a huge role in defeating the biggest enemy of their kind.
“I’ll miss you so much,” Anna told Lyra as they hugged outside near the car waiting to leave for the Azure Pack.
“You’re welcome to stay here any time,” Lyra told her. “Also, we’ll see each other often during official events.”
“I’m looking forward to that,” Anna said.
