The Ruthless Lycan King Fell For His Slave Mate novel Chapter 118

“Why aren’t you back yet?” Julian’s worried voice came across the phone when Lyra received his call.

“I’m on my way,” Lyra told him. “I’ll be back soon.”

“If you run into any problem, tell me,” he told her. “I know how Alpha Lucian can be. If he is giving you a hard time, I’ll teach him a lesson.”

“Don’t worry, I can handle Lucian by myself,” she told him. “I’ve settled everything and I’ll be at the palace soon.”

“Okay, I’m waiting for you,” he told her.

Lyra hung up with a smile. Earlier, she had left on a trip to the Luminous Pack for the grand opening of a werewolf academy that would welcome students from all over the kingdom.

Julian had been worried that Alpha Lucian would give her a hard time and wanted to go with her, but he had other official duties to attend to. Even though no werewolf in the kingdom could stand up to her, his first instinct was to protect her, whether from mortal danger or rude Alphas.

“He really has no idea, does he?” Anna asked.

Lyra shook her head. “Nope.”

“I thought males could sense this sort of thing,” Anna said.

“They can, he just hasn’t figured out what’s going on.”

“He has always been clueless like that,” Beryl chipped in.

“I think we are done now,” Anna said. “We’ll leave you to it.”

After Beryl and Anna left, Lyra sent Julian a message, asking him to meet her in the private cottage in the royal forest. As soon as she sent the message, she received a call from him.

“Why are you at the cottage?” he asked her. “I thought you were on your way to the palace.”

“There’s something I want to talk about, and I thought we could use a bit of privacy,” she told him.

There was a pause on his side before he asked, “What’s wrong.”

“Nothing,” she said, smiling at the worried note in his voice. “I’m waiting for you.”

When she hung up, he contacted her through their mindlink instantly, asking whether anything was wrong. She refused to give him any details, insisting that he get to the cottage first.

A while later, he showed up at the door, naked, after having run all the way there in his wolf form. Lyra could not help laughing when she saw him. She had prepared a romantic dinner, and there he was, absolutely not dressed for the occasion.

“You’ve not been kidnapped,” he said as he caught his breath.

“Is that what you thought?” she asked, laughing.

He nodded. “Now, can you tell me why I’m here?”

Lyra took his hand and led him into the cottage. Inside, it was decorated with candles and flowers, with soft music filling the air.

“We haven’t had a date night in a while,” she told him when they got to the table. “So I arranged one.”

“A date?” he asked, eyeing the table and looking around. “When did you prepare this? Weren’t you at the Luminous Pack all day?”

“I got back early,” she told him.

“When you said we needed to talk in private, I thought it was something bad,” he told her, the look on his face easing up.

“We do have something to talk about,” she told him, using a solemn tone.
