Although Charlie could not extract the key information, he could guess how the shareholders intended to manipulate Aiden. 

It was nothing more than the conclusion they had guessed beforehand about using Elaine’s life as leverage. 

Thinking of that, he hurried toward the door of the operating room. 

He was now Zachary and had maintained a good relationship with the Shaw family. It was perfectly normal for him to show concern when he heard that Elaine was undergoing an operation. 

Cecilia and Aiden were waiting anxiously outside the operating room. Charlie did not see Evan and Christopher, so he casually asked it. Cecilia explained, “Evan hasn’t recovered from his serious injury and is in a coma. After he had undergone emergency treatment, he was transferred to the intensive care unit. Christopher, having tended to his torn lacerations, was then sent back to the sterile room due to his weakened condition.” 

After saying that, she looked at Aiden. “Aiden, I’ll go to the laboratory to check on how Professor Farsons‘ detoxification is progressing. Let me know if Grandma Elaine comes out of the operating room.” 

Aiden understood that Cecilia was going to test Jeffrey, and he nodded. “Go ahead. Professor Farsons only arrived yesterday, so it’s normal that there’s no progress. Don’t be too impatient.” 

Cecilia understood what Aiden was getting at. He was referring to Elaine’s poisoning rather than assisting Christopher with detoxification. 

“Don’t worry, Aiden. I know what to do.” 

When Cecilia was about to leave, Charlie stated, “I actually have some company matters to discuss with Professor Farsons. Let’s go together.” Charlie was worried that Jeffrey might become desperate and target Cecilia. 

Soon, they arrived at the laboratory. 

Charlie could not enter as he was neither an employee of the hospital nor granted special permission. 

Therefore, he directly called Jeffrey out and asked about the progress of the new drug.

Jeffrey has been closely monitoring the production, as not just anyone could enter the pharmaceutical production facility. 

After a brief discussion on the production situation, he added with a smile, “Mr. Jennings, a simple phone call from you would suffice for such simple matters. You don’t have to come here in person.” 

Charlie, calmly in the face of Jeffrey’s suspicion, replied, “She wanted to find you, and I just tagged along.” 

Cecilia seized upon the opening and inquired, “Professor Farsons, have you made any progress in developing the antidote? An unexpected situation happened to Christopher today and his condition worsened.” 

“Ms. Yancey, Mr. Forte’s health is in a dire state. You shouldn’t have helped him get discharged from the hospital, nor should you have 

allowed him to wander around outside.” 

In other words, he was implying that Christopher should stay in the hospital. 

Cecilia did not fall for his trick and explained, “Today is a special day. He has to go out. It’s the same even if Christopher is in the hospital.” 

After saying that, she asked again, “Professor Farsons, have you developed the antidote?” 

“Not yet. There’s been some progress, but the specifics will depend on the test results.” 

“Okay. Thank you for your hard work, Professor Farsons. I have one more thing I’d like to consult you.” 

Jeffrey could guess what Cecilia was going to say. 

However, he pretended not to know and asked, “Ms. Yancey, is there anything you need to consult me about your exceptional medical skills?” 

“I may have good medical skills, but I still can’t detoxify Christopher. Professor Farsons, that’s why the matter I want to consult is concerning poison.” 

“Ms. Yancey, you make me sound like an expert at poison.” 

Cecilia looked at him and asked with a smile, “Are you not?”

Cecilia nodded and proceeded to recount in detail everything she could remember about the poisonous gas. 

“Professor Farsons, have you heard of this poison?” 

“I haven’t heard of it. Would you like to have the poison brought to the laboratory for analysis?” 

“It’s already been delivered, and the director of the laboratory took care of it personally. Professor Farsons, I won’t trouble you further since you’re not familiar with this poison. Please pay careful attention to Christopher’s poison.” 

After Cecilia finished speaking, she left with Charlie. 

It wasn’t yet the time to confront Jeffrey, so she refrained from taking any action against him. 

After entering the elevator, she tapped her fingers and her thigh, using Morse code to ask. “Charlie, will Jeffrey devise an antidote?” 

Charlie did not dare make any promises on that and gently shook his head. 

The “Wolf Killer” organization was primarily focused on causing harm and had no desire to create a life–saving antidote unless significant profits were involved. 

For example, they might use Elaine’s life as leverage to force Aiden to open a specific border crossing. 

Therefore, Charlie remained uncertain about whether Jeffrey would have an antidote. 

Elaine was still undergoing emergency treatment when they returned to the operating room. 

Suddenly, the operating room door swung open, and a nurse hurriedly stepped out. 

Cecilia gazed at the still–on overhead light and realized that the nurse had come out to deliver the news of a critical condition.
