"Marigold is pregnant." Jenny didn't hide it from Evan. She didn't think there was a need to, as everyone would know sooner or later.

The revelation stunned Evan. Uncertain, he asked, "Is the child Gilbert's?"

"Yeah." Jenny nodded.

Evan found it rather unbelievable. When he finally recovered from the shock, he asked Jenny, "Gilbert probably doesn't know yet, right?"

If he knew, he wouldn't be so calm.

"Not yet. I don't know if I should tell him." She was even more uncertain about how to break the news to Gilbert.
