"The patient's life is not in danger, but the condition of his lower limbs is more severe than before," the doctor announced solemnly.

Upon hearing that, Jenny felt uneasy. "Is there still a chance for recovery?" she asked.

Glancing at her, the doctor didn't give a clear answer. "It's hard to say. It's not very likely right now, but it's not impossible. Miracles can happen in this world."

Jenny didn't ask further, knowing the possibility of a miracle happening was slim.

Evan was transferred to a hospital ward and woke up shortly after. When he saw Jenny, he smiled at her. "I'm sorry, Jenny, for making you worry."

"Evan, I'm sorry," Jenny apologized, unable to meet his eyes. If it weren't for her, Evan would have been able to resist Alec. If it weren't for her, Alec wouldn't have deliberately made things difficult for him, and this wouldn't have happened.
