Have you ever been in such a situation where you lose the ability to utter a word?

Well, I am now. I am trying to say something but my tongue is tied. Bunches of questions currently brawling in my stomach but my mouth is at a loss for words.

It seems like my own ears betrayed me but I know I heard right. The boy I have always seen as my friend made me dumb just by one question. Life is so complicated.

After minutes of inward struggling, I finally speak up,

"I don't have any alcohol in my house. Then how and when did you get drunk? You aren't looking drunk though." I say in an excessively low voice but he hears me.

He shakes his head, "I am not drunk, Evie. I am sober."

Since when did my life begin to run like a drama script?

I pull my hand away from his grasp with a jerk. I take a deep breath to calm my nerves before I shot at him furiously,

"Do you have any fucking idea what you are saying? How could you say that? Leah would go crazy if she can hear. I can't believe you. Oh God, please Nicki just say you are joking. Please." I yell and start breathing heavily.

I examine him carefully and to cause my second blow of shock, I can feel that he is trying hard to hold back laughter. I don't have to wait too long as he bursts into a roar of laughter, falls off the couch clutching his belly with his hands.

He continues laughing and tumbling until he loses his breath as I just sit there like a thunderstruck person.

"Oh ... god, you...are so... funny. How could you think I said that truly? You didn't even let me finish my sentence. Ouch! My tummy is aching." He says, sitting up on the floor looking at me amusingly.

Holy mother of chocolate! He was joking! What a fucking asshole!

I let out a huge breath I was holding, grab a pillow from the couch, and throw it straight across the idiot's face.

"You jerk! You almost gave me a heart attack! Don't you dare to do that kind of stupid joke with me again!" I yell and about to get off when he grabs my arm stopping me. I turn to him,

"Nicki, I am really mad at you. Very mad." I roar.

"I am sorry Evie. Please listen to me. Yeah, I didn't mean that actually but it wasn't fully a joke."

My mouth opens up hearing him as I look at him in utter confusion,

"Again? What did you start today?" I crack up disgustedly.

Everything has a limit. Now it's getting out of the boundaries. Once saying it was a joke, then it wasn't. It's hard to believe Nick is playing this kind of prank with me.

"Evie, I didn't mean real girlfriend. 'Fake'." He says as I scowl at him.

"What? Why?" I shout.

"Calm down, calm down. Let me explain first." He says, making me sit on the couch. He sits beside me before he speaks,

"Don't get me wrong. I just wanted to request you to pretend as my girlfriend. Not actually a girlfriend but like that. I mean flirting. I have been thinking about this for a few days. When you brought in this topic today, I thought it would be better if I told you now." He tells me, making me more confused.

"But why?"

"Because you were right, I love Leah."

I stare at him in shock with an open mouth and finally when I realize what I heard is real, I am already jumping in delight.

"I was right! I knew it. I knew that you love her. " I scream, shaking my hands in the air.

"Oh hello, I didn't say I love you. I love Leah. Why are you jumping?" He rolls his eyes at me.
