Together Forever novel Chapter 21

"Really? You two are leaving me?" I ask, staring at Leah and Nick, dumbfounded. Nick is watching TV while eating fries, engrossed in his football match. So he just gives me a shrug and again dives into his world.

"Don't be so dramatic, Evie. As if we are leaving you forever." Leah rolls her eyes at me while putting some clothes in her luggage.

"That's the same. I will have to shift to Manhattan and live in that huge spooky palace all alone. What is so important that you are leaving hurriedly?" I ask, pouting.

"Try to understand, Evie. It's been six months since I last saw mom and dad. I am missing them so much and they are also telling me to go."

"Alright but why is that baboon going with you? That's your house, your parents, not his. What will he do there?"

"What the hell? Stop calling me baboon!" Nick whines and throws a fry at my direction. "And I am going there to visit my future parents in law. What's your problem?" He winks at Leah and as usual earns a smack from her.

Leah's parents called her today morning from Texas telling her to go there. She will leave tomorrow. At least I thought Nick will stay with me but being Leah's very good 'friend', he is also going after her. But we all know the backstory very well. I couldn't go because I have work to do.

Leah was handling everything here. Now as I don't know the 'c' of cooking, I have no other way than to go to our palace in Manhattan, much to my displeasure.

The main reason for living in this apartment is because I don't like to have a thousand maids and guards for me who will inform my dad every two hours what I am doing or if I am eating properly and blah blah blah.

But now, there's nothing to do.

Leah's phone rings in her room and she goes to pick it up leaving us alone. I find it the perfect time to talk to Nick about what happened between me and Ethan that night.

"Nicki?" I call him as he looks at me.

"What?"

"I need to talk to you. It's important. Turn off the TV."

"Not important than my match." He sticks his tongue out at me and I shake my head.

"Ethan came here that night you two were outside."

"What?" Nick shouts as he jumps up from the couch, turns off the TV immediately and runs towards where I am sitting with wide eyes.

He sits beside me, ready to hear what I want to say.

"Why did he come here? Huh? After hurting you like that? Did he do something bad? Tell me, Evie. I am getting scared now." He continues rambling, making me sigh.

"No, Nicki. He didn't do anything. He came here to...to apologise for what he did that day." I say, looking down at my hands.

"To apologise?" He asks, confused.

I nod, "Yeah. He told me that he kissed that girl because he was angry seeing me with you and so he wanted to hurt me. But he didn't mean that. He apologized to me and..." I explain while Nick listens to me carefully and nods.

"And?"

"And he...he kissed me...here." I utter slowly, pointing my index finger to my cheek, shyly.

"What the hell?" Nick screams as he jumps up, causing the chair to fall down with a loud bang. I look up at him and he grins at me from ear to ear.

"Oh my God! Ethan kissed you! Really? OMG! He finally kissed you? We should throw a party. Don't you think that?!" He exclaims, clapping his hands like a little boy and I just stare at him in shock.

I wanted to keep it a secret from Leah but here goes everything in hell.

His scream was loud enough for Leah to hear. She hurriedly walks out of her room with her phone in her hand and mouth hanging open, equally shocked.

I sigh and shake my head in disappointment.

These are called friends.

"Evie? Did I hear it right?" Leah shouts walking towards me, "Ethan kissed you? What Ethan? I mean which Ethan? Don't tell me it's Ethan Jones. OMFG! What the hell is happening? I don't know anything. Like what the fuck?" She continues shouting. I glare at Nick and he just smiles sheepishly at me and shrugs.

"Baby, calm down. I am telling you everything." Nick says, pushing Leah down on the chair.

The next one hour passes by me and him explaining everything from first to last and Leah shouting at us every two minutes. Finally when we finish, she is glaring at us like we murdered someone.

"Why do you two always hide everything from me? What type of best friend are you, Evie?" Leah hollers at me angrily.

I sigh, "Don't misunderstand me, Lee. I just told Nick everything today. And I wasn't sure how to say this to you so I didn't. I'm sorry." I say making puppy dog eyes.

She huffs, "Alright." Then suddenly her eyes sprinkle with amusement as a huge grin forms on her face, I knew it.
