I had heard such cruel words often and had slowly grown immune to them. I clenched my hands tightly into fists and forced myself to

calm down.

“Although you aren’t my biological mother, I’ve treated you like my own mother for four years-

Before I could finish speaking, Frances interrupted me and said sharply, “I treated you well back then as I wanted you to treat Claudia well and take care of her. But since you can’t be a good sister–in–law to Claudia, you might as well not be Nicholas‘ wife anymore.”

I sneered and said, “Then who do you want his wife to be? Jasmine?”

“As if she’s worthy. She’s just a dog the Hawk family is raising. She’s nothing more than a surrogate tool!” Frances‘ gaze was filled with disdain.

Jasmine had still been her so–called “friend’s daughter” last night, but today, she was just “a dog.” I wanted to mock her, but then again, what right did I have to mock someone?

Just like her, I also used to be Frances‘ “precious daughter–in–law“, but now my husband and my mother–in–law both hated me. I was just an unwanted being. 

Having met Jasmine before, I knew that she was beautiful, sexy, and very self–centered, just like many people who had come back from abroad. “Does she know you’re using her?”

“Even her life belongs to the Hawk family. What’s so wrong with us using her womb once?” Frances said nonchalantly. She displayed

the arrogance and disdain the upper class typically had for the lower class perfectly.

She softened her tone and said, “Don’t blame me for doing this. You’re the one who can’t have children. Instead of focusing on your responsibility as Nicholas‘ wife, you insisted on hav a job.

“Not only did you fail to build a successful career, you even caused a huge mess of things.”

“Since that’s the case, there’s nothing more for me to say to you. Whether Nicholas and I go our separate ways or stay together, we will solve it on our own. There’s no need for you to worry about that.”

Frances snorted and said, “Did you think Nick would still be willing to meet with you?”

With a wave of her hands, the group of bodyguards behind her immediately surrounded me.

I didn’t know why Frances asked me that. But now, she seemed to be the one in charge within the Hawk family.

The bodyguards did not hold back as they basically threw me out on the streets. Everything happened so suddenly.

I could see my reflection through a puddle of water by the side of the road. I looked like a dog who had just been abandoned by his owner. Claudia had also just called Jasmine a dog that Nicholas had picked up.

I called Yasmine and asked her to pick me up. Yasmine was very casual about the situation. She stood by her black car, opened the door for me, gave me a small gentlemen’s bow, and gestured for me to get in.
