I was so calm that even Nicholas was surprised. Perhaps he had thought that I would be satisfied or even scared when I saw him. But I merely put my phone down and asked something irrelevant.
"Since when can you come and go from my apartment as you please?"
Nicholas was stunned by my abrupt question. Hesitating for a moment, he clenched his fist to suppress his anger. "You're my wife. It's only natural that I can enter your apartment."
He pursed his lips. His eyes were bloodshot as they filled with rage and pain.
I took it all in, but I became even calmer. He was just sad because of Claudia. It was nothing to do with me. I did not know how to convince myself that it was fine for my own husband to confront me because of another woman.
How absurd and cruel!
"Ah." I put on a fake smile. "There should be a few women partying in one of your villas now, right? Is it alright for 'Mr. Hawk' not to be there?"
Nicholas hit the roof when he heard my words. His eyes darkened as he strode toward me. Gripping my shoulders forcefully, he pulled me off the couch. He stared at me coldly.
"Don't say any of that to me. Why did you do this?"
I looked up and met his faze without fear. "Nicholas, I did not do anything."
My calmness gave him no outlet to release his anger. Even his usually cold voice had turned hoarse. "You did nothing? If it wasn't for you—"
I raised my voice and cut him off. "Your father was the one who wanted to kick Claudia out of the Hawk family, not me! You're blaming the wrong person!"
