Frances and Claudia were kneeling outside the ward while Daniel fumed. He smashed the glass on the water, which then shattered on the ground.
Although he was not loud, his voice carried authority. "You ungrateful child! Are you trying to be the death of me?"
"Dad, I know Claudia did something wrong, but it's only because we spoiled her too much when she was younger. She lost her temper. At the end of the day, I'm also responsible for her actions as her brother.
"Let me send her abroad. We're siblings, so I have to help her look for a husband whom she can rely on forever…"
At the door, Claudia sobbed. "Dad, I know I was wrong. But, Nick, I don't want to leave the country…"
Frances was also crying and pleading. "Daniel, considering how I've taken care of you and our family so well, can't you forgive Claudia just this once? I promise to discipline her properly. If she has to go abroad, so be it!"
The entrance of the VIP ward was in total chaos. Nicholas sighed helplessly, "Dad..."
"Shut up!" Daniel was panting heavily. His chest heaved with anger. "Although our family would sometimes use small tricks in business, we always kept our feet on the ground. Has all your education gone to waste?
"Look at what she's done! I'm already being lenient by not sending her to the police station! And you're still pleading for her?
"If you want me to die sooner, just keep talking!"
I did not want to watch this farce anymore. The confrontation between Daniel and Nicholas was their own business. Neither I, nor Frances, nor Claudia could interfere.
When we arrived, I had made a deal with Nicholas. I asked him whether he would agree to divorce me if I helped clear Claudia's name online.
