I chuckled softly, cupped Nicholas‘ cheeks, and gave him a soft peck on the lips.

“Like this?”

Nicholas narrowed his eyes as he looked at me. “That’s not enough.”

I closed my eyes and deepened the kiss obediently. However, my lips did not land on his soft lips. Instead, they landed on his cheek.

He had turned his head to the side, dodging my kiss. “Ariana, do you know what you’re doing?”

Confusion flashed across my eyes. Wasn’t I just following his instructions?

“I can’t see a hint of emotion and feelings in your eyes.

Nicholas‘ gaze darkened slightly as he pushed me down to the seat beside him. “It doesn’t even look like you’re trying to please me.”

What did that mean? I was taking the initiative, but he didn’t want it anymore?

I could only see the side of his face, but he was gritting his teeth. There was also a sharp look in his eyes.

I noticed that Douglas was waiting for me by the entrance, so I hurriedly said goodbye to Nicholas.

But before I could open the door, his arms wrapped themselves around my waist as he pulled me back into his embrace. He looked away as he lowered his head and pointed at his cheek.

With a serious expression, Nicholas said, “This is to strengthen our relationship.”

Relationship? I wanted to laugh, but I couldn’t suppress the bitterness in my heart no matter how hard I tried.

I gently kissed his cheeks before pushing him away. How could someone possibly gain feelings after a kiss? If that was possible, then we would need to keep our distance.

However, he needed time as he could not rush things. Otherwise, he might attract the attention of the other shareholders.
