Nicholas snapped, "Are you done yet?"
He grabbed the vase next to him and hurled it at Claudia.
The vase, though empty of flowers, still held water. It shattered against the wall with a crash, and shards of glass and water poured over Claudia's head.
Claudia barely managed to hold her breath. She couldn't shield herself in time. A shard slashed across her face, instantly drawing blood.
She screamed and instinctively reached to wipe her face, but her hands were already covered in cuts. The moment the water touched her wounds, the sharp pain made her forget how to cry—she could only gasp for breath, trembling in agony.
Her fury boiled over. "Nick! It was Ariana who wanted to hear this! You used to say I never listened to her. But now that I do, am I still wrong? How can you treat me like this? I'm your sister! What is she compared to me?"
Nicholas glared at her venomously. "I told you to shut up. Didn't you hear me?"
Everything happened so fast. Before I could react, the tension between them had escalated into a dangerous confrontation.
No matter the cause of their fallout, one thing was clear to me now—Claudia's feelings for Nicholas were painfully one-sided.
Nicholas, who had always prided himself on being a gentleman, wouldn't resort to something as rash as throwing a vase unless he was pushed to the brink.
He stood, pointing a finger at her. His voice was stern as he said, "Keep talking, and I swear—"
I quickly blocked Nicholas' path, staring stubbornly into his eyes. "Nicholas, I was the one who wanted to hear this!"
