The cold sweat on my back instantly soaked my nightgown. Upon seeing who was standing in front of me, I felt so drained that I couldn't even muster the energy to glare at Nicholas.
"What's wrong?" he asked, reaching up to touch my forehead before turning on the bedside lamp.
He grabbed a tissue and pressed it to my brow. "Why are you sweating so much?"
Why? It was all because of him!
I irritably swatted his hand away. "What are you doing here? Didn't you go to the study?"
Nicholas blinked innocently, his face appearing even more so under the dim light. "I finished up, so I came back to sleep."
"Then why are you sleeping in my room? This is where Tabitha and I sleep!"
"Where else should I sleep?"
"The study, the guest room—there are so many rooms. You could pick any room, but you shouldn't be here!"
"Why not? You get to sleep in my room, so why can't I sleep in yours?"
I couldn't even come up with a rebuttal. Coral Villa was his house. Technically, he could sleep wherever he wanted without needing my permission.
Upon seeing the displeasure on my face, Nicholas suddenly chuckled. "Alright. You win."
"Win? You think this is an argument like kids have?" I snapped.
"Aren't you acting like a kid?"
For some reason, Nicholas was being extra unreasonable tonight.
I sighed. "Fine. I won, so can you leave now? Go sleep in your own room!"
