My heart tightened. "Nicholas, what do you take me for? You're making it sound like I'm taking your advantage."
I lifted my hand and pinched his waist. He cried out in pain and finally let go. I quickly sat up to put some distance between us, glaring at him angrily.
Nicholas narrowed his eyes and wrapped his long arm around my ankle, pulling me closer. "Fine. I want you to take advantage, and I want you to touch me."
I kicked him. But he caught my foot and said before I could react, "Let's be clear, this doesn't mean I'm disrespecting you, it means I'm disrespecting myself."
What was I supposed to say to that?
"Let go!" I coldly ordered, trying to move my foot.
His voice was filled with both helplessness and restraint. "I'm not letting go. You won't hug me, so can't I just hold your leg?"
Nicholas was being utterly shameless.
"Stop it. We need to wake up early tomorrow. We have important things to do. If you keep this up, we won't sleep tonight."
Nicholas had no choice. He felt like he was about to explode if he stayed any longer.
As he walked towards the door, he couldn't help but try one more time. He turned back to show off his biceps. "I've been working out recently."
I didn't say anything and silently urged him to leave with my gaze.
Nicholas said sarcastically, "Looks like I'm not well-built enough. The woman I like doesn't find me attractive."
I once again found myself feeling embarrassed for him.
After he left, I lay in bed unable to sleep. I couldn't help but replay everything that happened. He was only acting this way because he had a good figure and a perfect face.
Sometimes I wondered—if Nicholas weren't so good-looking, I probably wouldn't have fallen for him the moment I saw him. So much of what had followed might never have happened.
