"These won't be enough,” Zachary said indifferently, "Unless you wish to continue taking medication."
Yvonne was startled.
"Do you think I'm willing to use them?" He added with a tinge of impatience in his tone.
Yvonne was startled again as she wondered how she had provoked him again.
It was only later on when she realized what he meant by not willing to use them.
In Zachary's words, there was a huge difference between using and not using them. No one would like to take a shower with their clothes on.
It took her a long time to fully comprehend what he meant by that.
He only said that much later.
When they got back to the apartment, Yvonne didn't carry much in her hands. Instead, Zachary took two trips to get everything upstairs.
Yvonne was a little unsure of Zachary's inner thoughts, but she could feel that he was still rather chivalrous toward her.
After sorting all the items, the house quieted down.
Yvonne felt awkward and flustered when the atmosphere quieted down, so she started making small talk, "Would you like something to drink? I'll go boil some water."
"What do you have?" Zachary raised his eyebrows at her and asked coldly.
"Instant coffee," she said, "Do you want a cup of that?"
"No."
"How about chrysanthemum tea?" She had bought some when she went out that morning.
"Not really," While he had seemingly declined her offer, he didn't sound as direct as he did when he rejected the instant coffee.
"Then I'll prepare some chrysanthemum tea," Yvonne immediately went to boil some water.
While the water was boiling, she noticed Zachary staring at her with a strange look. She was shocked and said immediately, "Why are you looking at me like that? You might as well say what's on your mind."
"Shouldn't you be telling me something?" He asked her in return without hesitating.
Yvonne was stunned. She thought for a bit and wondered what she was supposed to tell him.
Was it about Wesley?
She had definitely needed to explain that.
She was silent for a while before she found the right words to start, "I know I should explain about Wesley."
Zachary narrowed his eyes and a hint of light flashed across them. He stared deeply at Yvonne without saying anything.
The more serious he was, the more oppressive and pressuring his aura felt.
It made her feel fearful upon looking at him.
"It all started when my grandmother got p*ssed off when I gave birth to Maria before getting married, therefore she insisted on finding me a partner who wouldn't mind my identity as a single mom, which happened to be Wesley. I rejected him there and then though."
"Hmph," Zachary snorted coldly as if he wasn't convinced by what she had said at all.
Yvonne was also extremely helpless, "I'm really telling you the truth."
Zachary glanced at her and neither agreed nor disagreed with what she had said. Instead, he simply extended his index finger and curled it.
"Come here."
Yvonne's eyes widened and she was so worried about angering him that she dared not move at all.
Seeing her like this, Zachary narrowed his eyes. He found the way she looked fearful to be rather cute, considering the contrast between her big eyes and tiny face. It all looked so cute.
She was exactly like Maria. Occasionally, Maria would show a similar expression as well, but more often than not she was a quiet child.
That sensitive child was the person most deserving of pity among the all of them.
His eyes sharpened as soon as he thought of Maria.
He had to solve their issues as soon as possible. The longer this took, the longer Maria had to grow up without a mother.
It would not bode well for Maria's future if she had to grow up without her mother.
He did not want his daughter to develop into a withdrawn child.
He looked at Yvonne again. Up until now, he had been waiting for this woman to personally explain the reason behind her disappearance for more than a year.
Yet, up to this point, she hadn't mentioned anything about it apart from the fact that she had
